  1. I think they are being a little overly optimistic if they think those numbers will be reached.
  2. Looks like two of my sunscreen products that I have contain some of the banned chemicals. Banana Boat SPF 50 Sport contains both Oxybenzone and Octinoxate. The other is a generic brand I got outside of Thailand. I will need to make sure not to take those products into a National Park. Does that mean Thailand will not produce or import any sunscreen products with the banned chemicals?
  3. I had my first pfizer vaccination on 12 April and the second one on 3 May. I had no side affects after either shot. I did have a sore arm after each shot that lasted about 24 hours. I have heard that the side affects are worse after the second shot but that was not my experience.
  4. I met my Thai wife the old fashion way, in person. I had to, the internet hadn't been invented yet! We met while she was a graduate student studying in the US. A lot easier as we didn't have to deal with her or my parents as both lived thousands of miles away. She wasn't out for money that's for sure. Her family was a lot richer than mine.
  5. I have a couple of friends in Bangkok that are between 198 and 203cm tall. Yes, buses, MRT, and Skytrain really suck for them as do most minivans. Off the rack clothes are difficult to find. Luckily there are a lot of tailors in Bangkok and it is much cheaper than in the west. Shoes are difficult to come by when looking for size US17/49. They do better ordering online.
  6. I've been cycling in Thailand for many years both mtn and road. I've never been asked for ID by anyone when out cycling. However, I do carry a copy of my passport and also an ID card from my home country. On the copy of the passport I have local contact info as well. I keep it in a ziplock bag along with my phone.
  7. I had my second Pfizer injection on 3 May 2021. I didn't have any side affects from either the first or second shot. A little bit of a sore arm where I got the injection but gone in 48 hours.
  8. That's if you/they can afford a rest home/Sr. living center. The cost of those are quite higher and just keep escalating. They start at about 6,000USD a month for someone in pretty good health and can easily go up to $8,000USD and more depending upon level of care needed.
  9. I have known a few American guys that were going to marry their Thai GF's and then move back to the USA. They had been working in Thailand for a few years but time to go back to the head office. Instead of going the fiance visa route they instead had them just get tourist visas which they did. They then left for the USA and after a few months got married. Much faster and quicker than waiting for the fiance visa. They were also issued work permits very quickly although I don't recall if many of them went to work. I know a few enrolled at local community colleges. However, it isn't really the route that US immigration wants you take. It's kind of in a gray zone. Not illegal but not what the tourist visa was designed for either. You, on the other hand, have already made your intentions known on a public website. Probably not the best route to go with the tourist visa now for you and your situation. Good luck to both of you!
  10. How can this be true? There was a government inspection a little while ago that declared that no prostitution was going on in Pattaya.
  11. Is the Sky Lane Bicycle path around Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok open?
  12. I prefer Jomtien. The reasons are it is quieter than Pattaya and away from the madness. However, Pattaya is just a short baht bus ride away if I want to go over the hill to Pattaya for some night time entertainment (pre-covid of course!) or to hit the shopping malls.
  13. I'm sure there are a number of them that can move online to sell their services. Those that are a little brighter can set up a very good system and do well for themselves. They may never move back to the bars if their business takes off if and when the entertainment areas re-open.
  14. Burger King. Maybe once very three months or so.
  15. Looks like he married well and his wife comes from a very wealthy family
  16. The assessment of Khun Kanit is overly optimistic. I think that he is going to be severely disappointed when his predictions fall very short of his projections.
  17. I haven't exchanged dollars in quite some time but what about Bangkok Bank on Silom at the main office? Ok, the exchange rate isn't as good as the others mentioned but it's not a whole lot of difference.
  18. Hard to say. 95 and 96 were very good. 98 was great for the USD to baht exchange rate after the financial crisis in July 97.
