  1. Whataboutism justifies all misconduct by farang. Oh, you're just expressing your own bigotry with this nonsensical excuse.
  2. Brits don't hesitate to snitch in the UK if what little sense of propriety they have left is offended, such as by public sex. The article doesn't say if they were farangs. But if they were Thais, then they'd be reported as well. Nothing particularly Thai here, sorry. Pathetic. So we first got to verify that every monk obeys Buddha strictly before we ask any farang to stop offending Thai customs in public. And we got to first bring justice to the Red Bull heir, too?
  3. Very simple, true. Much, if not most, of how things "swing" is under your own control and is determined by your own attitude. You can assert imagined special privilege, play the victim, choose to make things difficult for yourself, and sit in that old bathwater and sneer, whinge and blather nonsense. In that case, nothing will ever change. Or you can simply man up and learn to make the "swing" mostly smooth, pleasant, and enjoyable. ANOTHER pothole targeted at farangs? Thais! How much more??? It is not the most intellectual of the species that survives; it is not the strongest that survives; but the species that survives is the one that is able best to adapt and adjust to the changing environment in which it finds itself. --Darwin
  4. Business model. Trump topics get posted often to inflame the countless feminine members, usually hailing from nanny states, suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrom. Guaranteed to generate lots of pages (and so, page views) filled with ignorant assertions repeated from legacy media. There is no cure, fortunately for the model. Trump is one of those gifts that keep on giving.
  5. I've had it for over a decade but only started using it about three years ago. Been great so far. The issues are the waiting times, learning the procedures, seeing multiple docs to get to the specialist, appts into the future, and being limited to your designated hospital. Another issue is that it's not very useful for preventative care. First, you need to have an issue that needs fixing. So realistically you might see a specialist first at a private hsp. then take the diagnosis to the SS hsp, Also pay out of pocket for anything you want done quickly and for some preventative care. It's affordable. :)
  6. Dr. Anna at BPH, best in Thailand. Only available on Wednesdays.
  7. But by default only a media player will open, or try to open, a file with video filename extension; and that's the only file you click on. The file may on your Android box anyway. No, you don't click on a random .exe file you've downloaded. Windows Defender offers real time file scanning. If in doubt you can also scan with something like Malwarebytes. Finally, the torrent sites often have "trusted uploaders" or comments from previous downloaders. In short, not an issue, as our veteran video downloaders here can affirm.
  8. Been shopping on Aliexpress for years, bought all kinds of stuff. I won't bother listing it all, if you don't mind. Much would be of no interest to our members, or items they'd never buy online, let alone (horrors!) from China, or, if they did, they'd buy from Lazada. I don't need the feedback here; I know what I'm doing, thank you. Lazada has improved a lot over the past couple of years, much more stuff, better prices, faster delivery, so now I'm using Lazada mainly, and reserving Aliexpress for items Lazada doesn't have, or are overpriced, or are of lesser variety.
  9. Is the UK rolling out knee-jerk back-and-forth programs? Few years ago they had they came out with the I Travel For campaign. Then last year they CHANGED to the See Things Differently campaign. WOT??? Panic? Then they decided to emphasize France, Gemany, and the GCC. WOT??? Desperation? It's a big world out there. 'Course, China has a helluva lot more tourists than those combined. National tourism agency VisitBritain is kicking off the next stage of its marketing campaigns in France, Germany and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to boost tourism across Britain’s nations and regions with a focus on off peak and shoulder season travel. --https://www.visitbritain.org/visitbritain-kicks-next-phase-campaign-france-germany-and-gcc-countries-boost-tourism-britain Is the UK panicky and desperate? How come we're pretending that all countries' tourist agencies don't do the same thing as Thailand's does?
  10. I buy stuff from Aliexpress all the time. In only two instances out of hundreds did I have an issue. Full refund on one; 50% discount on a shirt the wrong size but that I could still wear (and do). One item proved defective, but it was out of warranty, so nothing unfair. Used Lazada for years, no problem w/ refunds on a few items. Not worried about time: no comparison between the time you save by ordering online rather than visiting shops, BIG time waster. And then re-visiting to get a refund if necessary. I suspect you have plenty of time, anyway.
  11. Yah, you're always reinventing yourself. Little fantasies. You're giving out all the psychiatric therapy anyone needs by telling people they're going to die. How'd that work for them? Dead yet? I'd suggest improving the old invention first. Seems no forward progress there so far. Retrograde, in fact. Anyway, go big or go home. Forget psychiatry. Psychiatrists are all fat and out of shape. Here's the goal:
  12. Yah, we're always claiming something's Thai or Thailand. A little perspective for you, not that it'll do any good: 28% of Swiss dentists recommend unnecessary fillings
  13. Chinese have been courted for many years for obvious and perfectly understandable reasons. Nothing new about that; always forth, never back. A tourist agency, or any marketing department, never stays static but is always coming up with new campaigns. You can watch any retail site--Lotus, Big C, Central--to see them changing promotions and targets. Normal business, not knee-jerk at all. In part that's cause the market itself is always changing, and it'd be stupid not to respond and attempt to cash in if possible. We seem to be living in Pyongyang here. Normal business, nothing knee-jerk. One of the classic Principles of ANF Economics is that of No Change. Some business changes something to meet market demand--without first consulting our Economists and explaining--it means it's going bankrupt and desperate. If it's in a shopping mall, that means the entire mall is struggling. Here we merely have a new marketing campaign, and it means that Thailand is now in panic and desperate. The much-prophesied End Of Tourism is nigh, owing to--oh, you know, our fave hobbyhorses. Somehow, Thailand's got to bring back them great Golden Egg Layers who ran out of golden eggs.

    Rant.

Good point. Now that traffic's become so bad in Pattaya I'm taking Bolt more and more. Reasonable price, well worth it.
  15. Reminds me of pro-Hamas posters on the Times Of Israel's Twitter feed claiming that all the IDF videos are fake, the tunnel holes are merely for wells or electric connections, the dead and captured Hamas photos are just of civilians rounded up and killed, and Hamas is in fact winning.
  16. Yes, you want to. :) Dual pricing has been debated on the forum for many years. As many posters have argued, t's not really clear, except in your own mind, that you necessarily deserve the same price as locals pay. Nor is realistic to expect that everyone's tax returns be audited at the entrances to national parks. You may take that discussion to one of the many threads on the topic. I'm not actively ignored because I'm obviously friendly, give a smile, and greet the staff in Thai. Distinguishes me from the idiots and overcomes their reluctance to engage, owing to several reasons. And staff ignore Thais as well, so that's fair, important to your concern for justice. Scammers are always equal opportunity scammers. And what you think of as scam may be simply charging what the market will bear, something socialists don't understand. I've always been treated politely and professionally by Immigration, and I treat the IOs with great respect from the start of our encounters. Never a problem, my papers are always in order, and I always follow the rules strictly without whinging. It's beginning to appear that there's something about you causing negative reactions, while you're of course blaming Thais. You can be treated more like a Thai when you speak Thai, adopt a respectful, friendly attitude at all times, adopt Thai manners, and in general just act like a "decent" Thai person. As it is, you're being treated decently for the outsider you are and aren't owed anything more. In contrast to your experience, I've always been treated decently and Thais have often extended extra courtesy just because they realize I don't know what's going on because I'm a foreigner. Be careful what you wish for. You may be glad sometimes you're not being treated like a Thai.
  17. The problem is that our old bigots here grew up expecting that their natural superiority would engender nothing but beneficent love and servility from their dark inferiors in the Third World. Flip a few satang for rice and bask in the smiles. Then--horrors! The locals refuse to accept their inferiority and refuse constantly to kiss the b*tts of their masters ordained by Nature. So our old bigots, never able to get over the disappointment and disillusionment, spend their days bashing Thailand, trying to reassure themselves, confounded they're not getting what Thais owe them, just for being their lovable selves. Meanwhile, despite decades of whinging on the inernet by our "informed" posters, sounding the alarm, revealing the awful Truth, Thailand remains one of the world's top tourist destinations, and Pattaya Ranks 7th Globally in Top Emerging Destinations List in 2024. Younger generations seem to lack the colonial mentality.
  18. What do you get out of this constant silly bashing? Grow up.
  19. Happily, yes they do. Have encountered plenty of kindness over the years in Pattaya. True, the population does have to put up with a never-ending tide of farang idiots who create a bad impression.
  20. Living here happily for 28 years now. Just another great day in Pattaya. Cheers!
  21. Exactly this. I'd do the same back home, too.
  22. No, my low carb diet has always kept my glucose levels stable. BTW, you might read this about dosage timing, if you didn't know. https://www.henryford.com/blog/2021/05/surprising-things-affect-thyroid-medication
