  1. Maybe they did a survey and a few of the millions who'd left on account of the high tax on SangSom will happily return and save the country from its economic collapse.
  2. Now the people in Starbucks have yet another reason to watch the muppets in Amazon.
  3. Now this is the canonical position of ANF Poster Food Science. I'm really surprised that so many have now come out and boldly endorsed the Thai wet markets for buying meat. Must be the new convenience of the Rompho market and Makro. Previously we'd always have a chorus of gasps from horrified cupcakes who couldn't hack it in the fleet. Page after page of disgust at the idea of eating meat covered with dirt, flies, insecticide, snot, and phlegm. And then smug self-satisfaction with one's lordly wealth and intelligence to eat only delicately packaged meat. Times have changed.
  4. Did the OP say he was living in a single room? But even if he's living in a rabbit hutch out in the weeds, he didn't mention any need or desire to waste money on a generator or solar to shut down his PC gracefully and protect it against power surges. Anyway, what if he may be put out on the street at just any time? Would seem a questionable investment. But if he does, now, you may relish describing at length your hutch system.
  5. Here's the plan. It will cost. That was last July, so it's been that long since we last reveled in a good Starbucks bashfest and (unsuccessfully, it seems) attempted to drive it into bankruptcy. The superiority of 7/11 coffee just can't be proclaimed too often. Oh. There's Amazon. But brewing your own coffee at home is cheaper and gooder. You can't do both, now.
  6. The OP's ask is quite modest: Have time to shutdown his PC gracefully or let the UPS software do it. Protection against power surges. Typical; standard. He's been given suggestions for a couple of suitable models, believe it or not. No need for a generator, go solar and off the grid, whole house protection, hours of uptime, or a new laptop computer. I've sometimes said that asking for a little help here is like walking into a gym full of preening bodybuilders and asking for toning advice.
  7. Sunlight's good for you, as google will tell you. Yes, better than Vitamin D from supplements in a number of ways. Needs to hit 30% of your skin area. Sunscreen cancels out the good effect. WOT??? I'm talking about modest exposure time, and of course NOT enough for any sunburn whatsoever. You can overdo anything, like die from drinking too much water, as did a woman in the news recently. No matter what you do, unless you can afford the Cher makeover, your skin's gonna get old, wrinkled, and spotted anyway, if you live long enough. Skin cancers develop in people who don't have that much sun exposure and on areas of the skin not exposed to the sun. Besides your own loving self-examination, I'd recommend regular skin checks by a dermatologist (like Dr. Anna at BPH). Most here should probably be a lot more worried about a healthy lifestyle to avoid early CVD, diabetes, strokes, heart attacks, and cognitive decline.
  8. This is such a lovely, dear little myth that I almost hate to debunk it and cause tears. Obviously, you aren't a regular Starbucks patron. I have been, for a couple of decades. I rarely see any selfies being taken, certainly no more than at any other venue. Fact is, Thais often take selfies, alone or with friends & family, wherever they are. It's an addiction. If you saw one taken at MK, you'd think nothing of it. At Starbucks, it must be different.
  9. How old are they exactly? SMART indicators all good? Power on hours? Pass longer self-tests?
  10. Prices raised--unconscionably!!!--earlier in UK. You could argue delayed in Thailand. Pretflation: how Britain’s favourite coffee chains have raised prices again and again Meanwhile, Starbucks plans to open 100 new UK sites in Europe expansion
  11. I have insufficient knowledge to contradict your initial observation, so I merely asked if you are a Trump supporter to verify. AFAIK, we don't have any such on the forum rabidly foaming at the mouth, soiling their knickers, and fighting imagined demons at the utterance of the word Starbucks. Up to you if you think dictators on the planet have something to do with it, but sounds to me more like you've fallen victim to one strain of the dread brain-eating space monkeys. My sympathies. They often plague posters in the Pattaya forum with their "Whither Pattaya? Whither Thailand?" obsessions. Tinfoil hats useless. Only cure seems to be to--wait for it--return to the paradise of the UK and find peace. I'm thinking of one success story at the moment. Happy for 'im.
  12. It's always been thus for decades, the rabid foaming at the mouth, the knickers soiling, the imagined demons for page after page as the members of the Commonwealth rally and do battle against an existential threat. Nothing new is ever said, of course. Good for business.
  13. Why indeed? Order to go, drink half in the store, take the rest home. Sorted.
  14. Typically the product description states new or used. Consumers may prefer used for lower prices. We don't like used goods here and will scaremonger if given opportunity. But, if from a reputable, well-reviewed vendor, it's usually OK for non-mission critical applications. I have a couple of drives bought used that are fine for miscellaneous backups and data transport. SMART indicators good, power on hours reasonable, self-tests passed, capacity as advertised. I'm not worried. I'd buy one of the ebay drives if I needed that kind of capacity. In everyday use my drives always last longer than the warranty period, Seagate, WD, Toshiba, whatever. I believe it's because I keep them cool. But reddit has many tales of drives still humming along after 10 years.
  15. Which falls into my "don't want to" category. But the market usually disagrees, as company analysts had projected, so an ANF Economist's doom prediction is an excellent reverse indicator. If our Economists but knew, they could invest in the company's shares and make enough to enjoy the products themselves.
  16. Starbucks has international appeal, of course. In Pattaya, where you live, a wide variety of nationalities are usually in there.
  17. Starbucks isn't a large supermarket chain. Fail. But I've never taught English, and of course I go to Starbucks when I'm near one and in the mood. Gf and I both have espressos, usually, Are you going to need some help so that you can stop your lying about me, as a deflection from your ignorance of economics? It's at hand, no problem.
  18. The usual experience among our ANF Economists with any product they can't afford or don't want to pay for. Happened SO many times over the years.
  19. Whenever I have a cuppa at Starbucks, what enhances the pleasant experience is the thought that a Brit outside looking on or passing by has soiled his knickers.
  20. But you aren't an influencer, now are you, and getting paid for influencing. Or if you are, please point us to your Instagram.
  21. I don't see how filing a police report (though she may have) would be effective in any way she wishes to be effective. She has no whinging history we know of and have no reason to think she'll be doing so in the future.
