  1. He is on an Extension of Stay. Sorry for not being clear on this point.
  2. A friend of mine has been told he will be losing his job within about 10 days. He arrived in Thailand visa on arrival, and has been on a Non-immigrant "B" visa for almost a year. He is searching for a new job, though without success so far. Is there any way he can get an extension to remain in Thailand, without leaving the country ? Sixty to 90 days would probably be enough for him to find a new job. He is unmarried and too young for a Retirement Extension. Thank you.
  3. If there ever was a refusal, I would never have known about it. I remember reading somewhere that public schools have to accept all comers within their catchment area. I am speaking of their Regular Program, not English Immersion Programs.
  4. For a few days I was a guest teacher at a govt. school on the Trat side of the Trat-Chanthaburi border. When we got to the "Where do you live ?" question, I remember that about 25% lived on the Chanthaburi side.
  5. In a 17 yr. teaching career in Thailand, I can remember it happening twice, and there may have been more. He will need an interim report card from the old school if leaving at a non-standard time. I would presume that she will have to pay full tuition at both schools for the "broken semester".
  6. Within about a 1 km range of my place, I can think of 4 ATM's that have been removed within the last year or so, and one addition. Two of those closed were Krungthai. Within the same radius, There have been two branch closures. One of those was Krungthai, though they did have two branches only about one km apart. Maybe the increase in online shopping and the use of QR codes has something to do with the changes.
  7. I haven't done it in years, but I remember getting a sleeper from Bangkok at about 8:00 p.m., and waking up in Chiang Mai at about 6:00 a.m.
  8. If you are going to live in a foreign country, you need a new passport. End of discussion.
  9. "Ampheur" means "District".You should be able to register your marriage at the office of the District in which your girlfriend lives. I believe you will need an Affirmation of Freedom to Marry completed by your Embassy in Bangkok (or maybe bring one with you from your home country). This form confirms that you are not presently married. I will leave your Immigration questions to others.
  10. A school obtained a waiver to hire me when I was 59, so I was 61 when it expired. I retied at that point.
  11. Does this statement apply to someone who entered on a Visa Exempt entry, and is now on a Non-B (Employment) ?
  12. Once you have the Visa, or an Extension thereof, most Immigration offices will allow you to apply for an Extension up to 30 days early. Some will allow up to 45 days early. But they only issue 12 month Extensions. They won't "custom cut' the length of the Extension based on your wishes.
  13. It is supposed to be done within 7 days. Of course it is rather difficult for Immigration to determine the exact date you moved.
  14. To me,the newsworthy aspect of this is that a Thai person apologized for something.
  15. IF you have written proof of your negative PCR test, I think you are free to go. You might need to present written proof if flying domestically. As far as I know, there are no check-in procedures for bus or train travel.
  16. I think this happened to me decades ago. If you applied before the expiry date, and submitted all required documents, you should be OK. They won't penalize you for a delay on their side of the counter, or by a third party, such as your employer.
  17. Why wouldn't they be ? It is the last business day before a four day long weekend. And furthermore, it's pay day.
  18. Never call a Thai teacher into the classroom to restore order. If you do that once, you will have to do it every time. Thai's are woefully immature by any western standard. When I told a Thai high school teacher colleague that in Canada, the students (instead of the teachers) moved from room to room at every bell, he couldn't believe it, and said that would never work here. I never taught Anuban, or even Prathom. At least for Anuban, I think a Thai assistant would be necessary.
  19. I presume you are talking about income tax. If someone has told you that you have a refund coming, I think they must have your Tax Card Number. For a replacement card, I think you need to go to a Revenue Department office.

    2022 Diary

And I bought one at B2S in my area.
  21. Going from memory on this; while I haven't been looking for one, I haven't seen a published schedule this year. Elephant Breakfast at the Elephant Traffic Circle, at about 7:00 a.m. on the Saturday.
  22. What is the online source that is both authoritative and up to date ? A site that is Thai language only is OK. Note: This question is about requirements for a Thai citizen, not for a foreigner.
  23. - visas can only be extended at the office where they were issued - as for "90 day reports", there is nothing to stop you from mailing it to your "home office". Aim to have it arrive there 14 - 7 days before the expiry date. On your return envelope, use your permanent home address.
