  1. So, I can conclude that since I filed a TM 30 when I moved to Bangkok, that a fresh copy of my rental contract and the owner's ID card is not required at this time. I will take my current copies. As I stated at the outset, this will be my first extension in Bangkok. I have been living, while retired, in three other provinces, so prepared my checklist as a sort of composite list based on my recollection of experience in those.
  2. I have now been retired here in Thailand for almost 13 years. However, having moved to Bangkok last May, this will be my first renewal here. I will be using the B 800,000, money in the bank method. The money has been "parked" in a Bangkok Bank account since June of last year, and was previously parked in another account closer to my previous Immigration office. Here is my checklist of Immigration's requirements: 1. Fee, B 1900 2. Photo 3. Bank Letter - verifying balance on the day; can obtain on the day at Chaeng Wattana Immig. branch 4. Copies: a) bankbook - ID page, and pages showing the last three months of transactions b) bank statement - I believe it will show 6 mos. of transactions, which is more than sufficient c) passport - ID page and every stamped page d) rental contract e) owner's ID card* * Does this require a blue ink signature by the owner, and a reasonably recent date ? I have a photocopy here, and will copy that, if sufficient. Is there anything that I have forgotten ?
  3. I have now made two attempts to register on this wonderful new system. After filling in the boxes, I receive nothing except three blinking dots on the screen; no error message nor any acceptance message. I waited about 10 minutes each time. What do you advise ? Plain English please; I don't speak geekspeak.
  4. You will need to provide a copy of your rental contract, so no, you can't get a long term visa while travelling around Thailand, unless you rent a place which will sit empty while you explore Thailand.
  5. I once accompanied a tourist who had lost his passport to the Canadian Consulate. He was given a temporary "passport", so that he would not be without identity & confirmation of citizenship while awaiting a replacement passport.
  6. If you were qualified for any such position, I think you wouldn't need to come here and ask this. I taught for 18 yrs. at four high schools in three provinces. I can only think of one. A guy, whom I'm sure had a length of qualifications as long as his arm, was hired as some sort of consultant to improve the teaching of English.
  7. Remember, it is actually an 89 day report, not a 90 day report. The date of your stamp counts as Day 1, not Day 0.
  8. Fourteen days before the due date, or seven days after.
  9. Past history is normally irrelevant, as long as it is not "negative past history", such as overstay, blacklisting or deportation.
  10. A friend was in this situation. Your employers have done everything correctly. It will not affect the renewal of the W.P. for your full-time job. I would presume you need to pay tax on your part-time earnings, especially since they are in addition to those from your full-time job.
  11. People can not simply remove or add themselves to a tabien baan. It must be done by the housemaster.
  12. Does Immigration really have 35 yrs. of history on their computers ? I have lived here continuously since 1995. As you might guess, there were few computers here then, and few people who knew how to use one. Most computers had dust covers on them most of the time. Bangkok Bank had a German guy at their head office overseeing their computers. My guess would be about 15 yrs. of history at best.
  13. Contact khurusapha at ksp.or.th Don't waste time seeking opinions from the farangs here.
  14. Passports are intended for traveller's, not for resident foreigners. When a foreigner leaves, there is a presumption that he will not be returning. If he is planning to return, he needs a Re-entry Permit. As for the charge, well what can I say ? They have their hands out every time we turn around, including for this.
  15. It is very hard to see how a translation could "expire". In 27 yrs. here, I've never seen this be an issue.
  16. My best wishes for her speedy recovery. I have posted this need on a couple of other forums where I am a member.
  17. As far as I know, when a deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, Thai Immigration will accept you going in on the first business day when they re-open.
  18. Several yrs. ago I had tennis elbow. After a few days of trying home remedies, I went to a doctor. He prescribed Arcoxia (etoricoxib-MSD). This was a miracle drug. My tennis elbow was gone in an hour. I don't know if it is available without a prescription.
  19. The OP has asked two questions: 1. Can he and his wife come in January for 90 days ? 2. Can they return in Sept. to start the 12 mo. visa for the purpose of Retirement ? The answers are "yes" and "yes". I see nothing in his post to indicate that he is somehow trying to get some sort of pre-approval for their 12 mo. Retirement, or that he is seeking a 19 mo. Retirement Visa/Extension. Nor are they seeking to stay continuously fro January to September.
  20. It is my understanding that you can not request a police clearance on yourself. The employer must do it. That is likely why it isn't on the list they gave you.
  21. After divorce, you have the same options as anyone else. You should be able to get a "parent of Thai child" extension without leaving the country. Divorce does not automatically terminate an extension for marriage.
  22. I consider the BOT list authoritative on this question. I have never seen it proven to be incorrect.
