God's going to be sorely disappointed

Over the years I've met a whole regiment of SAS whilst drinking in bars around the world. The only person I ever drank with who was SAS never told me, I only found out at his funeral.

VFS Global Appointment Slots
Stocky replied to Stocky's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
It's OK, sorted. Although it says earliest appointment still when you select another date, so long as time slots appear you're at that date, though it doesn't confirm this until you get to the end. They could make things clearer. -
Expats How Do You Deal With The Toxic Air Pollution in Thailand?
Stocky replied to Mitkof Island's topic in General Topics
Yes, August/September we have on occasions caught the smoke from fires in Kalimantan and Sumatra, but a lot has been done to reduce that. Normally the 'haze' doesn't reach further than Penang, but on some years it has stretched as far as Hat Yai, though seldom lasts that long. -
Expats How Do You Deal With The Toxic Air Pollution in Thailand?
Stocky replied to Mitkof Island's topic in General Topics
Rubbish. I've lived in Hat Yai 20 years and I've not been blown up. There hasn't been a terrorist incident in Hat Yai since May 2014 when 3 pipe bombs went off around the police accommodation blocks. There have been 5 incidents in Hat Yai in total since we moved here; April 2005, September 2006, May 2007, March 2012 and May 2014. Air quality in Hat Yai and Songkhla is generally very good, though we've been getting dirty air blowing down from the north, today the AQI is around 60, moderate. . -
I'm trying to book appointment slots for my wife and granddaughter for Bangkok. I just submitted their applications and was redirected to the VFS website but I can't access any dates apart from what's offered as earliest date. We want to go up to Bangkok in February but as many times as I click on dates in February I get nothing except the earliest date which is Jan 27th. Do they not offer slots more than a week in advance? There's no indication on the website. Another point, if I succeed in uploading all the documents myself, is there any requirement I print everything out and take it with us to the appointment?

Heavy rain warning in Thailand as temperatures drop
Stocky replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Plenty rain here, Hat Yai's already had 150mm so far this month; the expected rainfall for the whole of January is 50mm. But at least it's cleaning up the dirty air that's been coming down from the north. -

Surely if it's not the 'great US of A' it must be second best, therefore slumming it. -

Well given you think it's so awesome and wonderful, and the best place on Earth, it does beg the question why you're slumming it in Cambodia? . -

UK Visitors Visa for Granddaughter (under 18)
Stocky replied to Stocky's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
No, there's no sole custody, parent's separated and we offered to raise the child. Her passport needed amphur letter from both parents. I can get her father to supply a similar document if that's required. Document from her father is easier as he lives locally, my daughter lives near Prachuap. . -
UK Visitors Visa for Granddaughter (under 18)
Stocky replied to Stocky's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
This is the letter I suggested, it would be sworn and certified at the Amphur and accompanied by copy of mother's ID and child's birth certificate. I can't think of anything more I can add.
