  1. He means the country you wish to phone, see image, change it to USA.
  2. No deposit paid, nothing lost, nothing to report - chalk it up to experience and move on. Where was this anyway, it's posted in the southern Thailand forum, was this Hat Yai??
  3. The roads are plenty wet down here with lots of surface water. But if the vehicle "had been nothing but trouble, recently wobbling all over the road and handling unpredictably", he shouldn't really have driven it at all, or at least at not at any speed.
  4. With the NE monsoon every November-December heavy rain and flooding are normal in the south at this time of year; that's why traditonal houses are built on stilts.
  5. Uncle Tu flew down yesterday to offer his best platitudes.
  6. Curious, I didn't need to visit the bank either to initially set up the KMA app, unlike KBank, nor when I changed phones 5 months ago. Note that my phone number was the one registered when I opened my account and used for bank sms notifications and online banking long before the app came along. .
  7. I recently moved both KBank and Krungsri apps to a new phone, same SIM/mobile number so no problems, but as noted in the reply above need to connect first time using mobile data not your WiFi. .
  8. That's because they don't all report the same way. Some give current data, some give the 24hr average. You need to check the website and see what methodology they use.
  9. We're OK in Hat Yai, but my wife's aunt in Khuan Lang, west of Hat Yai is flooded to 1m in the house. My daughter near Rattaphum has parts of the farm under water but the house is fine; it's a traditional house on stilts. Thankfully the rain has now stopped but it was torrential over night.
  10. Both train services No.947 and 949 are running to the same timetable but as a bus service until the line reopens. https://www.railway.co.th/Home/index
  11. There's currently a replacement bus service Hat Yai to Padang Besar.
  12. Only because some numpty thought Stevie Wonder could make the leap from Scotland to the EPL. UTV
  13. As a child the first car I can remember was a green Triumph Herald, much like the one in the photo below. After that we had a Ford Cortina Mark 1, also green, my father's favourite colour.
  14. Who needs terrorists when you have morons like this!
  15. This article, unlike the other one saying 17 'ancient' temples to be restored, seems to suggest money for all.
  16. I've used DHL to and from the UK this year to send important documents. Can supply contact phone number and email, they will notify by SMS and email, phone before delivery. Reliable, no complaints.
  17. Hardly ancient, the Krue Sae mosque in Pattani is at least 300 years old though the site dates back 500 years as a place of worship.
  18. It's actually a joint project UK, Italy and Japan. https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/new-image-of-new-british-fighter-jet/
  19. I can't see it listed on AirBnB, it's on Beach Road, in a complex of individual villas called Dolphin Beach, with a condo block at the back.
  20. Huay Yang is a nice quiet spot with a beach that runs for kms. About halfway between Hua Hin and Bang Saphan. Rented a 3 bedroom villa there with pool last April through AirBnB - a handful of restaurants within walking distance.
  21. +1 for AXA You can buy cover online - AXA Smart Traveller
  22. How on earth can he say all that and keep a straight face?
  23. This is laughable. Thailand already has one of the World's worst road fatality rates. Letting bars stay open later is hardly likely to contribute to that. Punters don't have infinite funds they'll still spend the same amount just at different times as has been shown in other countries that liberalise pub opening hours. The bigger issue facing Thailand is the lack of law enforcement, have the police apply the laws that exist more vigorously and equitably. That's the route to solving many of Thailand's problems, not more, or more restrictive legislation.
  24. Having it charged to your relative's credit card is the obvious solution and probably the only option if you want instant payment by your relative. Alternatively your relative could send the money to you via Western Union, or Wise if you have a Thai bank account, and then you could pay cash directly.
