Seems like everyday some gets hurts in the water or drowns in the south of Thailand. Snorkelers die, boats run over people the list goes on but everyday there is some thing. I lived On Vancouver Island for years and it is very water active. Hundreds of boats on the water at any given time. Never hear of things like this happening. Thailand is very very dangerous for vacations if you do water sports.

Great news. I have sailed up and down the inside passage in the past.many times. And the beauty of nature on the west coast cannot be described. There are century old trees. Vancouver Island had a real problem in the past with clear cutting by the logging industry. From the water on the west side of the island you can see huge areas of forest gone, everything cut and what they wanted to use they took what the didnot want they burnt. Acres and acres of bare land, with pollution by erosion.Rivers are filled with silt and salmon cannot spawn etc. where once there was old growth trees and beautiful nature.I am very glad they will preserve some of it.

Appears these young refugees see Germany as an easy country to come too. they donot have to be responsible because political correctness will protect them They are just laughing at how stupid countries can be they go to.They just walk in illegally get fed have a place to stay and can do as they please no responsibility or accountability. These same people make have been useless non contributing people back in their own country and see a free ticket given by stupid people as an easy ride and take it. While th PC people hand feed them.
Also are refugees immune to arrest for harassment and sexual assault?

I see nothing out of the ordinary. I think the Thai Baht and US dollar are linked. My Canadian dollar is linked to US dollar.and I check the rates the % change of exchange for Canadian to Us is the same as the % of change Canadian to Thai Baht.constantly. If my Canadian dollar drops against Us it drops the same % against Thai baht. Seems to be a pattern there.

Not to many years ago that industry was in Thailand. I am sure thailand wishes now they would have tried harder to keep that industry.

Maj Gen Chamlong and 13 others meanwhile petitioned the court seeking its sympathy to exempt court fees in this case as the Civil Court had earlier ordered defendants in the case to pay a combined compensation of 600 million baht to the Airports of Thailand for damages caused to the airports during the seizures.
When are they going to pay? How long has it been since this compensation case was settled?

I tried to start a new thread so as to not disturb this thread but was sent here to express my thoughts. so here goes.
Dead or not dead. Which do you prefer.
I read here where walking street is packed, the beach is full, restaurants are lined up.the list goes on. So I ask myself do I want to be shoulder to shoulder with other people all day and night on a holiday? Do I want to sit on a beach full of people and not see sand but see people and umbrellas and chairs. Do i want to stand in line to eat? Hotels harder to get.
I wouldnot go there because of the crowds,it would chase me away. I wonder how many other people feel the same way.
I wanted to come to Pattaya this week because I heard it was not to busy. Great time to go. Get away from the cold. But I read threads like this I am writing this from home not Pattaya I decided to stay home till it quiets down.
So please give me your opinion of what you prefer when you holiday. Do you like crowds and line ups . Or do like space and and easy access to your wants and needs.
Or more simply put would you go because it is crowded?
Honestly..you think too much .... if you wanna go there for a week or more ? like Max One month..you can have so much fun ...... just do it... i think 10 Days is perfect !!!!!!
I have been going there for over 20 years so no need to tell me how to do it ok.I know what and where to go. Just asking do people like crowds or not I personnally go when it is not crowded. So i will ask again since my thread was closed and you take it off topic also. Who likes going to crowded beach cities. I personally do not.crowded beachs and line ups for restaurants so would like to know who looks for crowds to follow and who stays away. This is to see if people posting about crowds help Pattaya or hurt it.
LOL PATTAYA is UNIQUE .... especially when its full of people from around the world.... its an amazing show !!!!! an unique experience........
So I can take this as you like to follow the crowd. At least I got one opinion.

Just read another thread "is pattaya dead".
So I started this one because I didnot want to change the subject on the other thread.
Reading the other thread I started to wonder. How many people really want to go somewhere crowded and full of tourists? Is a crowded beach city an attraction or a turnoff.
I wonder if people telling how busy it is chase others away instead of attract them. I personally donot want to be shoulder to shoulder with people day and night on the sidewalks and beach.I have no desire to sit on a crowded beach.I cannot see the fun in being pushed by a crowd through a place like walking street.People every where cannot stop without people bumbing you.or bumbing into people well walking. Wheres the fun in that. Go to eat wait for food because the restaurant is so busy.etc. All the things that go with crowds.
Give me a more quiet place where I can walk and sight see with no problem. A beach where I can relax and see the sand not people and chairs. A restaurant that has good food and service.
How many here will wait for it to slow down if it is too busy and how many want to go when it is hectic I really wonder. So please voice an opinion.

Doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in this topic - unsurprisingly.
That may be because the answer is obvious; it is getting more difficult--look at the passage of the new and/or enforcement of the current immigration laws. Those who voted it is the same, have most likely been here on long term legitimate visas or visit infrequently on various tourist entries/visas. My wife and I are here on retirement extensions of non-O visas.
Last March for our ninth retirement extension, there were new officials with whom to deal. I was hassled about my finances. Even though I had an income statement from my embassy, the immigration officials muttered something about money laundering wanted to see my monthly deposits in a Thai bank before they would grant our extensions. I argued there was no need for us to show B65k/mo or B130k/mo transferred to a bank in Thailand, just as there is no need for anyone on the B800k method to show they spent it annually in Thailand. After running us around for a couple more hours and having us go home to bring back our bank book--yes, the book is in both our names--we showed it to them; it had about B6k in it. That satisfied them; they issued both retirement extensions and were so confused they did not even take my income statement.
So, some may say I wasn't hassled, well I disagree. In all previous extensions, we were in and out in less than an hour, there was never a need to even have a bank account, and they never questioned my wife piggy-backing on the retirement extension. With all the crackdown on immigration fraud, changes in immigration regulations, and the ever present incompetence among the individually omnipotent immigration officers; I foresee more hassles in the future--remember, they do not even have an income statement for our current retirement extensions. We use the ATM to receive cash--so we are now keeping ATM receipts.
I am the same as you. I get most of my money by ATM. I found the receipts become no good after a few months. the ink fades and it becomes a blank piece of paper with the banks name on it.All the money info is gone. But can save anyways.
My first visa was marriage visa . i got divorced and went to Bangkok as i was told to do and see immigration.. The immigration officer looked at my info and told me go get a letter from Embassy about income and tomorrow I will give you a retirement visa. I came back the next day she gave me my visa before lunch with no problem. Too easy.
I will go renew permission to stay again in april it will be my 9 th time,i will see the if it is still easy or not.i have a feeling it will be more difficult. New guy there seeks to like his power and treat people poorly.

Go for it protect your borders. People should respect borders. those trying to enter illegally may find themselves looking down the barrel of a gun and so it should be.Borders have been reason for wars for centuries.Declare war on refugees. If it was soldiers crossing they would shot.

Local market, but take your digital scales with you.Order ahead and get decent discounted price.Farmer will probably sell you the whole pig what will you do with that. I have found the big name stores are not a good deal most of the time .The problem with local market is the use of their scales. Everything is close enough kind of thing. Take a digital scale and weigh everything on it

This is exactly the kind of news that needs to get out right now.Thailand needs some human rights good guys win stories and I hope this is one of them. Timing is everything.Let the gypsies win and get a big stamp of approval for human rights at a time when it is dearly needed.
-
I have a standard way to deal with all these kind of things. I simply hire a local to deal with it. I would have some one come in tell him I want it gone and ask how much. after price is settled go out for a few hours come back after it is finished.Make sure he knows you want it gone not just moved.

I donot know how to water proof the cement by mixing in the cement. But I know a great product for sealing it after it is made. Crocodile Flex Shield. This stuff works great sealing concrete. Just mix and paint it on.It goes on easy and dries hard and strong.

She will have to pay they need the money to pay the rubber farmers for over the market priced rubber with no buyers.

If i had my way they would i would have every one stop buying fish from thailand for a month or more just to let them get the message the rest of the world will not tolerate slavery. So even if they clean it up remind them not to go back to it.It would rock their boat to pay for past crimes. And tell them next time no grace period as soon as it is found put they use slaves export of fish is finished.for even longer.

Just like I said in the Kanman Sia thread case. Kanman willnot see a day in jail but he was sentenced only to show no bias. It set the stage to put Chuwit in jail. It sure is nice when a plan goes as planned.

That design is more stable upside down any ways/ Also if they were trained sailors probably could have righted it,without help. Also no need to tread water if cannot right it.Just sit on the boat well it is upside down it is stable and willnot sink.
Baht vs US$

I see the link because the rate change for Canadian to Us and the rate change for Canadian to Thai Baht is always the same.I Canadian drops 2 % it drops 2% to both currencies. at same time if it jumps 2% it jumps 2% to both currencies. Consistent as it gets.I have watched the Canadian dollar go from 64 cents to 1 dollar in 3 years also.
