Arboreal animals are more likely to be squirrels from what I read. Shrews will climb low trees but tend to be mainly terrestrial I think. These run along power lines. I'm waiting for someone who knows to give it's Linnaeus name. It could be one of several species but there seems to be a common species around Pattaya. Until recently there was a large tree in Bukhao soi 15 next door to Grand Ave where an adult pair lived but the tree was cut down.
So get a photo of it for us to see, as you say the photo you posted is not the animal you saw, right?
BTW tree shrews are mostly aboreal and one of the thing they are commonly seen doing is running along phone wires.
The most common squirrel to see here in build up areas is the variable squirrel
As you can guess by the name it varies a lot in colour from black to almost white and all shades between. It's much larger than the tree shrew...so maybe that is what you are seeing. But it does have a bushy tail, similar to the America grey squirrel. They also make loud barking kind of call.

OP your photo is a tree shrew not a squirrel. You van tell by the long snout and long mouth.
It's a northern treeshrew (Tupaia belangeri).
They vary in colour. They do eat fruit and also insects etc.

Lacrimas CM what about the pollution and the smokey atmosphere from the burning fields, CM not the best City in my opinion but I not put up another candidate except to say that anyone with a chest condition should give CM
a wide birth. Far better to live by the Sea. Not all resorts are polluted.
No pollution in CM yet. Have you been looking at the data for this year or are you just guessing?
Bangkok has worst air pollution now.

Watched this morning as another flying rat landed on the mesh. It stood there for a minute presumably sussing out the mesh and spikes, realised it couldn't perch so also sodded off.
Most satisfying to watch.
Better quality entertainment than Thai TV for certain....

are complainers complaining then or ?
last time i checked most western countries did not have the pollution that CM has. i could be totally wrong though.
This is false. Bangkok has the toxic air at the moment.
The last few years in CM the air quality has been very good, and it's the same this year.

No need to be cruel to them.

Are you sure it's not the wife after the money?
Do not give the guy money.
Say you want a photo taken with him as you shake his hand and hand over the 'tip' as you are so pleased with the service.... I bet he will decline. Next learn some Thai language so you can really understand what he is saying next time..
I dont know how anyone can live with someone and marry them yet not be able to speak at least their partners basic language.
I am not saying this is the case for the OP but many times I have heard a farangs Thai wife telling lies to their husband about charges, money etc from builders, service people and shops etc so they can get some extra cash. I feel worse for the people the women are blaming as the faeang gets angry and the people feel uncomfortable with the situation. Being dependant, reliant and trusting someone you can't even speak the same language is really dumb.

Just now, DavisH said:Yes. And they did not spend the money over many businesses, or the small local tourist places like restaurants, bars etc.
Many preferred to eat cheap food from 7 11 back in their hotel room, and did not go to eat meals at local restaurants.
Most also did not frequent bars, pubs or smaller entertainment places. Local people saw little of these tourists money.
Instead the bulk of the profits went to a few large already wealthy companies, and many of those were Chinese owned!

I hear you but a lot of Thais involved in their tourism miss them.
Because these Chinese package tour tourists required the least effort to take care of, were easy to rip off with overpriced attractions and food, and did not complain as they were used to worse in their own country.
Those businesses that miss them should not have forgotten the (usually) higher spending farangs and other nationalities. Instead they saw an easy quick money spinner.
It even turned out they were worse off as a lot of the profits were going into Chinese tour companies and back to China, rather than local Thai tourist usonesses.

Hope they are not busy munching on disease ridden wild animals before they come over here too.

Yes. Exactly.
Better to replant the stove jungle they cut down to grow this stuff. It's been really bad for wildlife.
No one is forcing them to buy the toxic chemials to spray all over the place too. How about going orgsnic? Or if they still not happy.... Simply grow another kind of crop or realise the market for this palm oil is not profitable and get another job that pay better.

Under the E.U rules the UK had to abide in allowing criminals into the country . New laws have succeeded in deporting at least 1700 criminals from the UK . This was only possible because of Brexit and being free from the crazy E.U. laws . Many more criminals are being searched for .
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/more-foreign-criminals-and-illegal-migrants-removed
This alone is one example of why Brexit was a good move unless you are a supporter of foreign criminals .
What rubbish. Where does it say that the EU forced the UK to accept Convicted criminals in that link?
Find the EU law that said the UK had to accept foreign criminals plz.

Who is "freezing to death" ?
Has anyone in the UK actually "frozen to death" (whilst sitting at home watching television) or are you adding a non existent scenario ?
A lot of people.....mosrly elderly, and unfants and children get ill and health problems form cold and damp. Do some research perhaps?
How can you have no sympathy for children and other people suffering in the cold?

To keep it factual , there has only been two leaders selected since Brexit and just one of them was the "wrong " choice .
Its just Truss and Sunak who have been selected for the UK leadership since Brexit and just Truss can be considered to have been the wrong choice as Sunak seems to be doing quite well .
So its not "several" times , its *once*
Since brexit you think there has only been 2 prime ministers?

You don't care about poor people freezing to death as they can't afford to heat their house. Wow. Seems rather cold hearted.

still they claim boris will be back sometime as sunak gets low poll ratings

How has 'wokeism' made the UK economy so bad exactly? I I'm interested to know how that works...in relation to leaving the EU and the succession of bad leaders we have recently had.

Agree. From what I read a out foreigners getting attacked here I. Thailand it seems the vast number of cases is down to the influence of drugs or alcohol and usually late at night in a bar area and the foreigner is acring aggressive and starting the altercation from their behaviour.
I have lived here nearly 20 years and socialise mostly with Thai locals and never encounter a problem. However in the UK I have been in bad situations many times die to drink idiots getting aggressive and looking for a fight. Also muggings and knife crime are far far more common I the UK than here.
