  1. Consider the following written without prejudice:

Thailand is not a cheap country to live.

Education for your daughter at an international school will be expensive.

Health care is a bit 'hit and miss' and not what you would be accustomed to in the US

Some posters reccomend staying near her family --- be aware as a farang you will be expected to 'buy merit' for your wife - constantly.

If you want to live in an area with international schools and medical facilities your choices will be restricted.

Your wife 'may' also find that she has 'changed' and what she once 'accepted as the norm' in Thailand may frustrate the hell out of her. She may also have become more confident and outspoken which may 'not endear' her to the locals

    good luck whatever you decide.

  2. Update - Did the 1000km service today and English owners manual was there for me to pick up. Looks a bit like a photo copy and has some Thaienglish and not the same quality as the original book, also talks about using petrol. However all said and done is perfectly usable.

I was a bit surprised to find that by default the inbuilt alarm is deactivated. Followed the instructions and now have an operational alarm system.

Tire pressures, I tried to decipher the driver side decal with some local assistance and ended up with 35psi all round as opposed to 49psi as delivered, the book recommendations are for normal load Front 29psi and Rear 32 psi. Guess the 35psi all round explains the brilliant fuel economy, never mind will trade driveability, road holding and safety for a few Baht per trip any day.

    Cheers

We run all 4 tyres on a 2WD at 31psi. Great fuel consumption for a 2.5L very responsive diesel engine. PJS has excellent fuel ecconomy and the turning circle of a medium sized car. Contrast with other similar priced SUV's.

  3. Does anyone have a English Manual for the Pajero Sport ? The Manual we got with the car is in Thai. I already asked sales and they said "Don't know, but will ask"

    thanks

    :wai:

Bought at the end of 2010. Asked salesman for Eng. manual. Ubiquitous Thai "no problem"................ ended up with a photocopy of Eng manual for 500 THB. I cant read Thai so for me it was worth the money.

  4. Headline is a bit misleading as they are not developing a 'super computer'. They are developing a computer grid a term referring to the combination of computer resources from multiple administrative domains to reach a common goal.

“Distributed” or “grid” computing in general is a special type of computing that relies on complete computers (with onboard CPUs, storage, power supplies, network interfaces, etc.) all connected to a network.

This is in contrast to the traditional notion of a supercomputer which has many processors connected by a local high-speed computer bus.

Anyway everyone knows that HAL2000 was the last true super computer :jap:

  5. Wales fantastic result against a fine Irish side. 1 0 15 all superb.

Allez Les Bleues - much preferred the 15 who started fro France over the 15 playing in the second 40 minutes. Same 15..... oh welll that is the French enigma.

So two six nations team left in the tournament - good luck to both.

  6. I have 4 words for you- Cheap Portable Flotation Devices...

Wish Edward Lear to read this

The Farang and 'wife' went to sea

In a beautiful bright green condom

    He took his Thai honey

And plenty of money, (of course)

Wrapped up in a brand new french tickler

The Farang looked up to the stars above,

And sang to a small guitar,

'O lovely Pussy! O Pussy my love,

What a beautiful Pussy you are,

    You are,

    You are!

What a beautiful Pussy you are!'

Now where's the bloody condom when you need it

  7. Interesting to see Bolton rock bottom of the PL with easily the worst goal difference.

Also quite amusing considering it is managed by young, up and coming, English, super manager - Owen Coyle. Incidentally he is only one year younger than David Moyes but there you go. To be fair to Bolton they have had a gruesome set of fixtures playing against 4 of the top 6 as well as Arsenal. I guess they will turn it around but swapping Sturridge for Ngog and the likelihood that Cahill is off in January wont help.

You may find with a bit of research that Owen Coyle is not English. He was born in Scotland and played for the republic of ireland. Eligible cause his grandfather once drank Guinness.

Still a good result for the Blues.

  8. OK let's jump all over the Thai judicial system again. Naughty Thais bad Thai judges corrupt Thai jurors naughty, naughty Thais - lets slap their collective bums!!!

Now that's over what about the US judicial system with more 'blacks' in jail per head of population than Thailand. BUT where a black ex-football player gets away with murder because he has money. Where a dirty member of the political elite is involved in a suspicous drowing death of a young female yet it is covered up.

What about the judicial system in Italy where a suspected murder is set free -- publicity and money win again --- the bloody footprints??

No intent to start an OJ or Knox debate just drawing comparisons to prove Not only the Thai system that is rotten.

But hey for some on TV dumping on Thais seems to be how they get their jollies.:(

Because if we try to 'dump' on other nations we get the old "Not Thai related. CLOSED" response.

    OK fair reply :bah:

Wow we have F Lee Baily on the legal advice. You really think Knox did it and not some homeless Ivory coast criminal who fled to another country? Have another cup of that Anti-American bias Kool-aid the reason why more blacks are in the prison in the US is because they commit more crimes. Go to Oakland Detroit New Orleans Atlanta. Just in case you need some facts here you go.

    http://www.wxyz.com/...-dangerous-city

    http://www.colorofcrime.com/

You will notice Asian people don't warrant much of a % maybe its a KKK conspiracy in Thailand! I have lived in Bkk and Ho Chi Minh City and never once have I felt the same kind of danger as you feel in the inner cities of America.

F Lee Bailey did you think that up by yourself - very good.

Ivory Coast I was only aware of Guede who is still incarcirated for the crime and not speaking. Where did I say living in the States was dangerous? I was offering a comparison on the judicial system which is less than perfect in the US Europe and yes Thailand. In that regard Thailand is not alone.

Never ever felt threatened living in either Houston or Detroit --- but your point again was??B)

  9. The racism on this board is remarkable. It's amazing how hypocritical some of you are. I remember a few months back a European being arrested for drug smuggling and the outpouring of sympathy from this board.

I wonder how many of you would resort to criminal activities if you had been unlucky enough to be born in an undeveloped country and not given the opportunities and education that you have.

I am sure if someone said that most old fat balding western males come to Thailand to exploit the countries prostitutes there would be an outcry...lol

A truly amazing and thoughtful first post. We look forward to being the recipients of more of your valuable wisdom and insight.:(
