  1. That precedent would be: accountability for one's action That one has never been used before, and Wissanu just told the court not to let it happen. Accountability, can't have it, especially in politics.
  2. The investigation confirmed that the rug wasn't large enough.
  3. Maybe read my post again, and this time try not to mis-attribute Skipalong's post with mine, understand that I was quoting this:
  4. sounds like you have read this "forthcoming autobiography" already: "It's a masterpiece of misinformation, contradictions, and self-congratulation." BTW, this is what "forthcoming" means: planned for or about to happen in the near future. You realize that you use the same rhetorical tactics as your orange idol, and they are as crude and believable...
  5. the NACC an "independent body", my ass! WIKIPEDIA The core mandates of the commission are to root out corruption by investigating unusual wealth or abuses of power for personal gain committed by government officials or politicians. Critics have charged that the commission tackles issues of a political nature that do not involve corruption per se. Thus, "...it has not remained politically impartial, the core quality of an independent agency." The NACC is known for its lengthy investigations of corruption complaints filed by the public and for its lack of success in prosecuting the rich or powerful. NACC's perceived lack of performance has attracted scorn in Thailand. Typical is the assessment of a Bangkok Post editorial, "The biggest disappointment, as it has been for years, is the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). As the leading graftbusters [sic] in the country ranked 101st least corrupt, the NACC has done little to justify itself...Since the military coup that promised crackdowns on corruption, the NACC has concluded only a single case—the malfeasance investigation which led to the indictment of ex-premier Yingluck Shinawatra. That is the very opposite of a war on corruption." One columnist went so far as to relabel the NACC the "National Allowing Corruption Commission".

  15. I am surprised that Germany lowered the voting age to 16.
  16. No Thai ever does, it's an involuntary reflex that takes over the body and releases it only when they arrive at their mama's house.
  17. Which dimension? The "business as usual" dimension, the "why am I not surprised" dimension, or the "this was to be expected dimension"?
  18. You mentioned "Stateside", so I'm guessing USA. You will be getting a new/different passport number. You will need to go to and update each institution that uses your passport number (bank, hospital registration, etc.) Maybe you can also ask immigration to update you 90 Day Report online profile when you do the stamp transfer, so you don't have to go in person when doing the report with the new passport number.
  19. Quite wrong. I use my pink ID for domestic hotel Check-in, domestic Airline check-in, and opening bank accounts. You could just call a hotel and ask if they accept that ID or not.

  21. and that there is the problem: the Thai Constitution, having been written by the military, is the highest law in the land and therefore "due process" and "rule of law" are a pair of designer jeans worn as dress uniform by Constitutional Court judges.
  22. Election Commission of Thailand All commissioners are appointed by the king, with the advice of the Senate of Thailand; for a term of seven years. The current commission is the fourth team of election commissioners, appointed 12 August 2018. or, more to the point: an autocratic appointment with the advice of the military-appointed Senate and if one says something, one gets the pointy side of the stick with appointed finger-pointing
