No worries. Beach sport championships, marching band festivals, mass Indian weddings, hordes of Russian millionaires, Thai families (actually families from around the whole world) are all coming to rescue!
Time to start building more hotels, more condos, more malls - more of everything.
this will have to wait a while until corona issue is more clear.

Good times to come for residents.
not really as many people may not like to leave the comfort of their homes in situation of uncertainties created by the virus.

it is difficult to predict the future of tourism at this critical point in time as no one can for sure, determine how long it is going to take to control the COVID-19.
all travellers are taking the sensible approach to stay in the comfort of their homes rather than expose themselves to uncertainties by travelling.
unfortunately we all have to wait and watch how the virus issues pans out.

I hope the government do nothing to assist them, other than sorting out the immigration hate on farangs, and stop bringing in stupid regulations that penalise guesthouses that cater to farangs.
Agree - Leave them to their own devices, as they did when they were making a killing!!
rabbi there are some times when some form of help is necessary.

Thailand needs to follow suit with many other countries to ban China tourists. Catering to China, is going to turn everyone away. Looks like Thailand is wide open for Chinese still...even discounting visas. Need to walk cautiously to give confidence to other tourist virus safety.
i still feel it is better to diversify rather than become dependent on a particular country. in times of need, tourists will still keep on coming from other sources.

Thailand lost its shine a few years back now. The strong baht and the corona virus is just the cherry on the cake.
sorry you mean "the straw that broke the camel's back"?

tour operators most certainly need some form of support from the government to tide over this difficult period. yes the impact of COVID-19 is greater and serious as the duration is uncertain ( already pretty long).

Kudos to the Thai government for doing something good for people. Even a blind dog finds a bone sometimes!
government acted after petitioners acted on the obsolete laws.

It is meaningless. Just plain as that.
some things get obsolete with passage of time. good thing that it was corrected after action by petitioners.

Obstructing a policeman in the course of doing his duty is a criminal offence - whether you are a professor (what a shameful educator) or a woman (all <deleted> and <deleted>). Doesn't the old policeman know that, and have the woman arrested as well as the drunkard driver of a brother? They caused hurt to people and want to just walk away? No way!
the coward got scared because he knew he was drunk and was worried about the consequences of drink driving, dangerously at that, causing accidents along the way.

people like this who abuse or try to abuse their position should be hit even harder. shame on the professor as being educated he should better than to try to evade the law; you offend, you own up and face the consequences. that would be role model, rather than running away like a coward.

Hard to really tell, but that house looks far from expensive to me.
good house also means a good beehive which is likely to have honey.

Someone other than the gf/wife knew that that money was there.
A small safe can be bought for 5,000-8,000 Baht, I've had a few.even the small safe can be carted away without the need to open it at the site. better to keep cash in the ceiling or some odd place in the house, if you have to keep cash at home, which is foolish to begin with.

Cannot understand people who own or even rent a property and don’t have insurance to cover damage or theft it costs me less than 16,000 baht a year for 10 million cover and that includes all types of flooding as I live more or less on the beach
cash coverage is limited by insurance companies. use the bank, unless the money is not clean.

A year later his house was broken into and more than 10 Million Bahts worth of money, jewlery etc was stolen.
Now when I see him, I always mention that 40 thousand Baht instalation.
Fools.
