If possible I also want to be able to understand possible legal issues for the bad mother. Maybe if there are legal consequences my gf can convince her to actually take care of her babies. That's my hope...

LEGAL parents have the duty to care for their children. The duty for a father starts when he is a legal father (legitimization or marriage).

It is considered normal to let grandparents take care of / be part of taking care of children in half the world, nothing strange with that. They of course have the right to refuse also here but that's a difficult one. Juvenile court would be happy to take a case but which grandmother would sue her own daughter?

Juveline Courts do really work pretty well here (Thai lawyers representing westerners generally don't but that is not the courts fault) but they don't offer much. Child support is 100-150 baht per day (per child). Forcing the mother to pay won't lead to anything useful. Forcing the father to pay is the same, same amount and he will get legal right to his child too.

This child will go to another relative, that's how they solve problems like this in Thailand

  2. Age really matters. I highly doubt that a father regardless of surname (nationality) can get a 1 and a 3 year old on Thai passports out of Thailand without the formal form from the amphur (which must be requested by the other legal guardian). They are quite strict with young children. The same could apply for Thai mothers too but less likely (Thai Thai child even)

I was stopped with my 12 year old daughter at Suvarnabhumi airport and they didn't accept the handwritten note from the Thai mother and had to call her. I travelled again when my daughter was 15 and they didn't ask for anything...

As always, everything is a bit unpredictable in Thailand though

Foreign passports with no entry stamp.

That's a big no-no. Not going to happen

Electricity only accounts for a very small portion of a schools expenses. In any school, salaries make up 80-90% of costs, perhaps even closer to 90% in Thailand.

A largish school can easily have a million bath per month in electricity bill. That is not negligible

I would of thought the gag order would of been last winter, why 10 months or more after the event? Something doesn't add up here..

It was. Newspapers reported that Chinese doctors in Wuhan were ordered to not disclose any information, except via official channels, already in January this year. Other newspapers reported that doctors in Wuhan were forced to hand in their mobile phones at the beginning of their shifts to stop videos showing the real situation to be taken, also starting in January. SCMP and other newspapers ran articles on it

No source except they either pay up front if they can or they owe the Government afterwards just like the US citizens who could not afford to fly home from other countries and were repatriated back home after signing the waiver that unless repaid there passports would be voided.  However, I do not believe the Thai's loose there passports, but the quarantine is still paid for by the Government unless they choose to go to an ASQ.

No, Thai's don't fly home for free, Thai embassies process the CoE (certificate of entry) for them regardless of if they have money or not but they're not getting on a plane if they don't have a ticket. Source: My daughter who asked the Thai embassy that issued her CoE.

Correct on all counts barring the first sentence.

Britman is correct. Do point out that you don't want to see it again and leave it at that, then accept things as they are. If they single out your child after that, change school. Anything else is useless. Of fight and you will reach the same conclusion in 10 - 20 years

I'm assuming you got an approval to enter and have already booked a flight..

The process is that you must show proof of quarantine booking before you can get CoE, the embassy will then advice how to book repatriation flight.

  8. I emailed 21 ASQs 2 days ago to check for availability early August, the majority didn't even answer, 4 had room available, cheapest 55,000 baht. The cheap ones are fully booked well into September. There are a lot of cancellations close to quarantine arrival date as most foreigners can't get on repatriation flights

Thanks I found that out after my original post, I am just hoping we can all return together but I can’t see that happening due to the levels of Covid19 in the U.K. Question on many peoples ‘lips’ is how long can Thailand keep its borders closed throwing thousands of people out of work with no money or does that not concern the Government ?

Thailand will keep restrictions, while allowing a controlled number of both Thai's and foreigners per day back, for as long as it will take for the virus to subside in the countries they come from. Not about money.

This doesn't look like a short-term policy. It's looking like it will be months before Cambodia will drop the barriers to tourists. Cambodia was one of my get-out destinations.

It probably will be, yes. No way the virus free countries in Asia will allow foreigners from high risk countries without quarantine any time soon.

I have just checked EVA Air, flights are over a £1000 for a return albeit we only need singles which are similarly priced, it would be over £2000 money I can ill afford. We still have the B.A. Vouchers but no idea when they will actually’ resume flights, I assume I have to fund the flights ?

A repatriation flight from London to Bangkok was £560 ten days ago

If asymptomatics do not spread the virus, then mandatory mask wearing for everyone is clearly unnecessary.

People have to have money to live on regardless if they are sick or not, many cannot even take a 10-20% cut.

There has been a lot of complaints also in Sweden that people have to go to work even though they know they are sick to be able to pay rent etc, the "sick pay" isn't enough

In a perfect world that doesn't exist, yes.
