We are living in quite amazing times: we can choose religion that suits us: light or heavy, different "comics" to read, even "traditions" and dietary regimen. Even more - we can set our own pan-theism (the Ultimate Creator) which is condemn by almost all religions. The best example is our beloved locals who have their "red corner" with four-faced idol, Chinese God of War on the floor and sporadic visits to Catholic cathedral on Christian holidays. Why bet only on one, when you can bet on 3? Looks like casino, isn't? I'd say that religion is a tumor in your mind - feeds on your thoughts, altering your rational behavior and thoughts and messing up with decision making. And that is malign tumor ought to be removed.
