  1. Yeh, he's been conspicuous by his absence in this thread recently. Cue: witty comment from him that nobody understands.
  2. I have never experienced one pedal driving, but I don't like the sound of it. I like to be in control of my car and I think one pedal driving would be a step too far for me. I don't even like adaptive cruise control. I like the old-fashioned, simple cruise control. That said, maybe if I experienced one pedal, I would like it.
  3. About 1972, I was a rear seat passenger in an elderly VW Beetle and, if my memory serves me well, the battery, which was under the rear seat, went on fire as we were driving along. Much hilarity! I think we managed to put it out quite quickly. Not sure if we were able to continue our journey though.
  4. Just got confirmation from my salesman that all Seals come with a clip-on glass roof screen. Very pleased about this.
  5. Yeh, and I wonder what "freebies" are included in Europe. I can't imagine insurance, for a start.
  6. I can’t believe I forgot about this from the test drive: Below 25kph, or thereabouts, the car emits a sound which is designed to alert pedestrians that there is an EV close at hand. In most countries, EVs are required to have such a sound for safety reasons. . That’s well and good, but the Seal’s sound is pretty bizarre. It sounds like they sourced it from a Hollywood sound effects library filed under Banshee Wailing Sound or Eerie Wind Noise in a Haunted House. The pitch of it varies, y'know, just like the sound a banshee makes. Very strange! I’m surprised none of the other testers mentioned it. Wooooooohhhhh!
  7. Yeh, I'm very happy with this price. I was really expecting 1.7m. Take off, say, 200k for the "freebies" and it's a great price.
  8. Some good news, for me anyway: Someone has posted on Facebook and he was in the showroom today and he says all Seals come with a clip-on screen for the sunroof. There were pics of him holding it and also with it in position. It's the same as the one I saw in a Chinese video review of the car. When my girlfriend asked our salesman about it this morning, he knew nothing about it.
  9. Yes, I did. I think the control was on the steering wheel. Possibly! But it was close to the end of the drive, there was lots of traffic and I didn't get much chance to try it out properly. That said, it's possible that what I thought was regen, was actually the self braking which triggers when you approach a slower, or stopped, vehicle in front. I was pressing all sorts of buttons, so who knows? Whatever was happening, worked very smoothly. But I certainly didn't get to compare different levels of regen.
  10. Just got back from the Seal test drive. I was very disappointed that, not only did they not have the Performance AWD top model to test, but they don’t have the car I ordered several weeks ago in stock. Only 2 AWDs have been ordered in Phuket. I ordered a blue one, and the other person a white. The white is in stock. They don’t know when I’ll be getting mine. "Some time in October." Anyway, had a short test drive in quite heavy traffic in the Premium model. Bandersnatch says it all, above. A few negatives for me: 1) The car was hot; probably the glass roof. I don’t know why they are installed in Thailand cars. This meant the aircon was a little noisy fighting against the heat, but maybe that says more about how quiet the car is. Hopefully I can get my hands on the dedicated, clip-on shade which I saw in a Chinese review of the car. And hopefully the ventilated seats will help. 2) There was a little lag in the pick up when I floored it. Nothing bothersome, just not what I’m used to in my other two EVs. Nitpicking. 3) Brakes seemed extremely grabby but I’m sure I’ll get used to that. Nitpicking. Based on today, the car is much better than I expected. And I guess the AWD one will be even better. A joy to drive, the finish is beautiful and it seems to be very comfortable. Nearly forgot: the test model was a sort of grey/blue with a hint of purple. Unusual, and I thought quite nice.
  11. As far as I know that's just a protector for the interior rotating screen.
  12. This all sounds good, although it's all built into the price. No mention of window tint/film. Will find out the price tomorrow. Hope it's not too silly. Test drive at 11am.
  13. Potato, potahto, tomato, tomahto... quality, reliability. I edited it for you anyway.
  14. Transman - I just Googled and I think I found a photo of you which reveals how you know that MGs are gonna prove to be of poor quality in the future. I was wondering how you know!
  15. Can you point me in the direction of these supposed videos? I might be able to find them myself if your post made more sense. "running out of battery charge 40-80% before the initially indicated available range displayed on start up". What does that mean?
  16. Also: there is no "BUILD YOUR DREAMS" logo on the back. Just a more modest "BYD".
  17. As far as I know, only the AWD version is available in this colour. Which should mean the car in the photo is the AWD version, but in other photos of this car on Facebook, it shows the back and there is no 3.8s badge which the AWD version should have. A little bit strange. Also, the person who took the pics says the seats are white.
  18. I have already ordered one but I'm gonna go for a test drive, just in case I don't like it. Although, based on reviews, I can't see me not liking it. I see they are not announcing the prices until 6 or 6:30pm on the 28th. A sceptic might believe the price will not be decided until BYD see how many orders are placed after test drives and/or the general reaction to the car on the 28th.
  19. A quick Google reveals: Car Insurance Type 1 for a period of 1 year. 8-Year or 160,000-km Car Warranty. 8-Year or 160,000-km Battery Warranty. 24-hour emergency roadside assistance services for 8 full years. V-to-L electrical equipment extension cable. Portable Charger. Vehicle registration fee. Shape-specific rubber fabric, license plate frame, screen protective film. Free Home Charger Unit ready for installation.
  20. What is "this electric vehicle"? Your photo is just a ? in a small box.
  21. My MG has a man who talks to me. He doesn't say the same thing every time. I've never tried to silence him. I don't think it's possible. Doesn't bother me.
