  1. I have just left the showroom. I put a deposit on a Seal Performance, AWD. They say I'll have it first week of November.
  2. I'm not sure what you mean by this. How much do you think the Seal(s) will cost in Thailand?
  3. I just clicked on the Asean Now link to ChatGPT at the top of this page and it looks like a very simple version of the one I use. The version I use required me to register to use it. Maybe there's a difference?
  4. I’ve used it to write an email for me asking for compensation from a company who had let me down. The email it wrote was far better than anything I could have composed. I’ve used it to re-word a rough list of rules and regulations (for a housing estate) and turn it into a professionally written list. Brilliant! I used it to word the listing for an apartment I wanted to rent out. Very impressive! My sister lives in Spain and she and her husband had a very bad flood in their house. She was in a very depressed state because of this. I asked GPT to write a humorous story about the flood which had to include their pets: a cat, a dog and a gorilla, and also mention that their insurance company were trying to wriggle out of paying for the damage. ChatGPT wrote a surprisingly clever story (in about 2 seconds!) which helped to cheer my sister up. More of an exercise in finding out how clever ChatGpt is. Remarkably clever, in my opinion. And if you don’t like the story, or want it longer or shorter, just ask it to try again, ad infinitum. I find it to be hit and miss when you ask it for information.
  5. Depends what you use it for. It can be very useful for some things and not so useful for other things.
  6. I visited the BYD showroom yesterday to enquire about the Dolphin. I took away the brochure and it gives the 0-100kph as 12.3 seconds for the base model and 7 seconds for the extended range. I think this is interesting, if not funny - a list of other cars with 0-100 times of 7 seconds: Aston-Martin Virage 5.3 V8 - [1988] - 7.0 seconds Audi A3 2.0T FSI S-Line - [2005] - 7.0 seconds BMW 7 Series 750i E38 - [1999] - 7.0 seconds Dodge Charger SXT AWD 3.7 V6 - [2017] - 7.0 seconds Ferrari Mondial 3.2L V8 - [1986] - 7.0 seconds Jaguar E Type 5.3L V12 - [1971] - 7.0 seconds Mini Cooper John Cooper Works - [2012]- 7.0 seconds Porsche 928 4.5L V8 - [1977] - 7.0 seconds
  7. Okay, thank you! I thought I read or saw a video which stated the Dolphin was much more than 2.2 kWh. Maybe that was the MG4? Information overload. I really should start taking notes.
  8. I'd be very interested to hear more from you when you power your house using the car. I'm thinking of doing the same and the dolphin extended range model seems ideal with its big battery. Please update when you get it going.
  9. Which model are you getting - standard or extended range? The standard range model is quite slow for an EV.
  10. It must be true then. No need for an investigation to find out how the fire started.
  11. Found this online: "MG, in just two years, has passed Ford Motor Co. and Hyundai in Mexico and now is the eighth-best selling brand there, so it is already in North America. Vehicles sold in that market are not built to meet U.S. federal safety and emissions regulations, so for SAIC, it is not a simple matter of just appointing dealers in the US and shipping cars."
  12. In some situations this could be deemed as being very unfair. If I arrived at a station with only two DC plugs, which at the moment is quite common, I wouldn't be too pleased if one car was hogging both of them.
  13. According to your link, the average 5 year degradation is 89.9%. And you think that is “pretty close” to 80%?
  14. I'd be interested to hear where you got your 80% figure from. Have you got a link? I have two EVs, one almost 4 years old and the other just over 2. I'm getting the same range from both as when they were new. Battery degradation is inevitable over time, but your 80% remaining figure after five years is surely wishful thinking.
  15. Drove to Khao Lak yesterday to check out a bunch of hotels for an upcoming stay. In one of the hotels I came across another new charging point that I hadn't heard of before. This one is a little unusual: It's called Pupaplug by PEA. It is a rather Mickey Mouse looking set up (although I'm sure it works perfectly well). A plain white box mounted on a post which, when opened, revealed a small unit with a standard domestic 220v socket in it. Obviously just for granny charging, using your own granny charger device supplied with EVs . There was two of them. So, this appears to be a way for hotels to charge you for the power you use to charge your car, rather than let you plug into a convenient socket somewhere about the premises for free - which the vast majority of hotels will allow you to do if they don't have charging stations. No idea of the unit price. The hotel reception knew next to nothing about it but, from what I can gather, you scan the unit and pay in advance electronically for a fixed amount of juice. Something like that.
  16. Agh! ALTERVIM, not INTERVIM. I had a sneaky suspicion I hadn't got that right!
  17. Noticed a new EV charger in the carpark of Tesco in Thalang, Phuket this morning. On closer inspection, it appears to be INTERVIM - never heard of that before. Looks like DC and a smaller, separate AC. Both cordoned off and not in use yet.
  18. Nonsense! Please get your facts right before posting.
  19. The most obvious benefit of having lots of accounts in different banks is the one million baht deposit protection guarantee.
  20. I've been reading that Auto Express have got it wrong and it actually is 4 wheel drive. It has to be, really!
