  1. I asked my Canadian friend if the Canadian government parks and private ventures practiced dual pricing against non-Canadians.

He looked at me dumbfounded and as if I'd just landed from outer space!

"No" he said. "We take pride in our country and ourselves" "We work to welcome people not offend them."

When I visited Doi Inthanon this season and paid several hundred baht more than my Thai friend only to find rubbish littering the place, washrooms that reeked like horse stables this notion of "pride in one's country and pride in oneself" came to mind.

    I really didn't feel "welcomed" nor "un-offended".

    Sad isn't it?

As a Canadian, I can tell you your friend is wrong or perhaps doesn't go out much.

There is in fact dual pricing at parks in Canada but of course only minorities get away with it.

Take a walk on some of the hiking trails and see what happens when you get to the Indian land.

  2. BS numbers again this year.

First why didn't they start counting last Friday instead of the 11th? Everyone began the exodus on the 4th.

Second, the daily annual for road deaths works out to be about 72 people killed per day so if there numbers were accurate (and they aren't) then Songkran and Xmas season are substantially safer that a normal day (and they aren't!!!)

They only count people that die at the scene not those that are pronounced dead at hospital.

They fudge the numbers and it still looks horrible. TIT

  3. Will be interesting to see how many politicians and high profile people will be uncovered for this.

I would almost suggest that it could affect the US Prez race but all of the candidates are probably all involved so will cancel each other out.

Likely that a majority of politicians around the world will be caught up in this.

Likely no one will do time except the whistle blower though

It ain't just Thailand, no justice anywhere when it comes to the rich and powerful.

  4. yes, nice to see him being helped by the Thais. I wish Thailand would do the same for Thai's.

A manager at a 4 star hotel just told me that last week as she just returned from the funeral, one of her employees 36 year old wife (and mother of a 5 year old) had a brain aneurysm . Her husband rushed her to the local Bkk hospital but they said she could not be treated there unless he could immediately pay a 50,000 baht deposit and another 200,000 for the surgery. As it was the middle of the night and he was not thinking clear (as his boss at the hotel would have covered these costs for him) he did not think he could raise the money until morning.

He was instructed to have her sent to an upcountry hospital a couple hours away for the emergency surgery. She almost died several times on the trip. When she arrived at the upcountry hospital they were told that this hospital did not have the facility, equipment or doctor available to perform the surgery. You would think this would have all been cleared before they sent her away to be treated.

Long story short, she died. All because the hospital was more concerned about a 50,000 baht deposit. So now a little girl will grow up without a mother and a family is shattered.

I come from Canada and I could not believe that a country would let this happen to one of it's own citizens. Absolutely disgusting.

I hope the hospital gets it's ass sued off. But unlikely in TIT.
