What Americans Want and why Democrats Failed
simple1 replied to NickyLouie's topic in Political Soapbox
68% of those who could vote did not do so. Those that did currently shows trump received roughly the same number of votes as in 2020, whereas Harris received approx 10 million less than Biden in 2020. -

Maybe you didn't but obviously other locations in US did experience shortages during trump admin, but just like Biden admin would have worked by suppliers on the supply chain. Only pointed it due to the blame Biden stuff; highly likely to get even more monotonous in the coming few years. The rest of your comments are usual blah, blah from trump world. -

Happened during trump administration as well, I guess same as Biden, panic buying https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2022/08/02/fact-check-there-were-shortages-when-trump-president/10204437002/ -
trump wasn't convicted during the impeachment process due to Senate Republicans failing in their Oath to support the Constitution. Seems to me there are significant gaps in the Constitution to convict wrong doers. I assume the Founding Fathers didn't factor in a corrupt President and his elected supporters. In other words the Constitution is due for revision, but will not occur whilst current GOP in power.

Last Chance, Get out to Vote: Fascism vs Freedom

Are you trying to claim Murdoch media is not a committed supporter of MAGA world - LOL However, you can link to today's The Australian, (Australia's only national newspaper) will get plenty of content to support my post. But to repeat not going to run through endless argument. -
Haven't read all the posts, but the one's I have read are all from MAGA world gloating

Can't be bothered to run through circular arguments, other than to say Obama and co appointed people with relevant credentials, not solely based upon to their political POV. -
Just for a starter - 'reduce cost of government by 80%': BS

Authoritarian is probably more accurate, will have to what unfolds in the coming few years whether trump is just a blow hard or not. Posting links to credible sources is actually a forum rule. The Australian press is dominated by Murdoch who are nauseating supporters of MAGA as are some Australian, though not the majority -

As you well know trump empowers those who reflect his ideology; that is weaponising the judicial system. trump has also committed to only appoint loyalists in Cabinet and civil service, In this instance weaponising the political system. Apparently US citizens want to move the US to right of centre. from reading their posts on this forum not a good look for the future of Western democracies -
Not at all, deeply disappointed in a once great nation e.g. Marshall plan, something a trump like character would never do

Says a lot about weaponising the US justice system - i.e. undemocratic -

The other way round, MAGA has been deceived. -
He was, Vance admitted it was a lie to motivate MAGA voters, but trump carried on with the nonsense
-
agree...great conman - what does that say about those who voted for him?
-
trump's proposed policies will dramatically increase the national debt - currently costing tax payers approx billion $85o p.a. in interest. Will increase inflation that is currently back in control and so on. US voters have been conned.

it was...saved by God in order to be president

We will see how the trump presidency unfolds. IMO anyone with White Supremacists and weirdo conspiracists as senior advisors is unfit to represent the Office of the President of the USA, but does demonstrate the nature of majority of American citizens either through ignorance or intention. Plus of course trump's numerous vile comments, let alone the tens of thousands of lies etc etc. IMO the USA and the Western world will look back at trump's presidency with deep regret. However, we will see what the next four years bring; hopefully I am wrong. -

Sadly looks as though trump has won the 2024 Election. The only blessings I can think off no whining and lies about election loss, no violence encouraged by the loser. I believe US society will deeply regret trump gaining power in the coming few years For me it's having to turn off the news very time I hear his voice. -
You asked...."Do you think Seattle, Chicago, Portland, New York and Los Angeles boarding up their downtown areas because MAGAs are going to riot when Harris wins? " My answer: No, but having re-read your above post my answer would be Yes. Apologies for my error.

Also covered in US media. However, provide the links claiming Harris supporters are readying for violent protest. I suggest it isn't Democratic supports, but rather fringe elements such as anarchist's , criminal opportunists. etc

Usual MAGA nonsense, deflecting / blaming the Dems for what they publicly stated wish to do which has been widely covered by credible media sources. Or as some prefer to define him as... new authoritarianism” that subverts democracy from within and solidifies power through administrative, rather than paramilitary, means. https://theconversation.com/is-donald-trump-a-fascist-no-hes-a-new-brand-of-authoritarian-241586 -
No, but MAGA has already threatened some voting centres, where Dems expected to be majority, with additional security being provided. Some examples, there are others... https://www.news.com.au/world/north-america/us-politics/terrified-us-election-voters-panic-at-the-polling-stations-as-kamala-harris-and-donald-trump-face-off/news-story/434bb05e01b3a7aef1adc2e206fb66f5 https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c0mzrnr7nj2o https://www.news.com.au/world/north-america/us-politics/bomb-threats-a-security-scare-at-the-capitol-and-fake-videos-from-russia-disrupt-us-election/news-story/b56c465444fe3366270ba1803d25c537

I can only hope the violence toward Trump voters doesn't escalate.

Who is circulating rumours of an electoral fix for Harris? trump has claimed if he loses the election has been corrupted, but if we wins all OK. Does that not strike you as an attempted political fix. trump has already established his MO for multiple channels for attempts of lawfare. He lost all 60 attempts last time round. Some light reading for you... the Republican Party once again assented to Trump’s de facto leadership of the party. He easily secured the Republican nomination—and he may well secure a second term. Even if he loses, the fact that he has been able to come so close to the nation’s highest office, after previously mounting an insurrection to illegally hold onto it, is a reflection of the profound failure of American institutions to meet the moment. https://www.lawfaremedia.org/article/the-one-institution-that-checked-trump
