Thanks everybody I can see I have stirred up a hornets nest of the "I love simplicity not security brigade" - and I agree with those who say our choices are being taken away from us and we should all be concerned about that whether we like or dislike apps on phones. As Lord Acton once said "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance". That's why I don't "go with the flow" or roll over easy just because the "crowd" thinks I should. In my original post I asked a specific information (which someone gave me - thank you) not attacks on how I choose to live my life but then again I guess those who think I should be the same as them will never accept that. That's my last word on the matter.

Some people can't resist can they? Tthis is not about APPS it's about refunding of money and making a consumer complaint - One helpful person has given me a useful link so rather than put up with people who know best about APPS berating me I won't be following MY post anymore. Like I said It's my choice not to use APPS on a single mobile > I use a TWO DEVICE approach to security (notebook and Phone) I don't critsize your choice don't criticize mine.
-
Yes maybe that's sensible BUT I'm more than annoyed first their suppliers send me products not as described and not working then they try to stop the refund but I had evidence to back up my claim so they had to admit the refund and now they are being difficult. So I am very annoyed and I am going to try to get my pound of flesh.

1. I don't have the APP - they are not secure. (and please don't start a tirade about APPS - it's my choice and I don't critisize your choice to use one). 2. I have been talking on the phone and by email with Lazada for over a month without any progress. They keep saying the money is being sent in 3 to 5 days but it NEVER happens so doing anything via Lazada will get me nowhere.

I have been trying for over a month to get a refund to my bank from Lazada Wallet. I have previously supplied all the information they asked for. They claim to have tried twice and it failed (but they didn't bother to tell me). Now they say "for technical reasons" they can't do a refund and want to give me a voucher which I don't want because I have already bought the item returned (which generated the refund to the wallet) from somewhere else. I can see this going on forever and I want to complain to Thai Consumer protection (if that's not a paradoxical statement). Can anyone tell me how to go about this?

If you do or don't the other question is: Do you really believe in the institutions that claim to represent that entity (entity because I don't want to start a debate about the gender of a God). I think religion has caused so much pain and sorrow and wars in the history of the world that we could well do without it. But as Karl Marx once said it is "the opium of the people."

Wise formerly Transferwise
Negita43 replied to rabiedabruce's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I recently used Wise for the first time (via laptop) - not overly impressed The initial transfer screen showed a process of 3 days (from memory) and was completely inaccurate but stayed like that until they suddenly said there was a delay - took them 3 or 4 days to release the money on the UK side (so sitting in their account earning them money at overnight lending rates). Trying to find out what's going on via chat/email not useful or helpful. -
Thanks everybody - soo nobody rolls their own and buys tobacco in Thailand?
-
Yes that's what friends are for - he watches my flat whilst I'm over here

Not sure if this is the place for this Question but here goes. Shortly will be making a transfer here never transited here before and I wonder if anyone can tell me if there is a good duty free area accessible from the transfer area at this airport. Additional question: The reason I want to know is that I need to buy some rolling tobacco (amber leaf - not for me I'm a non smoker - which is why I am ignorant about these things) and I know I could buy it at BKK airport BUT then it would be in my hand luggage and I'm not sure if that might transgress some Qatar customs rules and would get picked up by security which I am sure I will have to go through. Of course the best solution is to buy it in Bangkok so it could go in checked luggage - anyone know if that's possible and where? Thanks

Re-ENTRY permit at Suvarnabhumi Airport

I thought forums were for the exchange of information between helpful people. However, I have resolved the issue so I now consider this fruitless exhange over. -

It's Korat as it happens but no worries - I've changed the text color in Adobe (my normal PDF editor wouldn't let me). -

Thanks for that BUT just one question my immigration office insists on the hand filled being in blue ink - anyone who has used this form know if that applies to the fillable form? -
I have a similar probelm with Kasicorn some years ago (at least 5) I had to take some money out of my deposit account but then quickly paid it back (actually then I was here on a work permit). Now I have two "contracts" in the same book and the last entry in the book always shows an amount of around 170,000 baht and a date in the future BUT this is actually the expiry date of that contract and a few lines above another amount (making up more than the 800,000 Baht) is shown with it's expiry date. This has caused increasing problems at visa extension renewal as the "checkers" only see the 170,000 and immediately say I don't meet the regulation. I have been able to resolve the issue over the last couple of years but I can see it becoming increasinly more of an issue even though I have the bank letter stating I have 800,000 Baht in my account. I have asked Kasikorn to combine the contracts but they say they can't and given the 400,000 minimum rule I can't close the two contacts and immediate renew with one 800,000 Baht one. Even moving it into two 400,000 chunks will give the same issue as then the last entry will show 400,000 Baht with that contacts expiry date. It's extremely frustrating as all I want to do is comply with immigration rules in as simple as way as possible for all concerned.

When did aspirin become a controlled drug? (It is now)
Negita43 replied to connda's topic in Health and Medicine
The reason many years ago in the UK that they restricted the amount of Paracetamol you could buy in one go was that people were using it to commit suicide and I guess the other NSAIDs got caught up in that. The idea being that buying enough in packs of 16 gave you time to "reconsider" your actions! Of course the manufacturers love this restriction if you looked at the price of 100 aspirin before and then the price of buying 100 in packs of 16 after you'll know why! I have had trouble for years getting the small dose aspirin here and when I return from my trips to the UK I bring it back with me (It's prescribed to me by the doctor) I am now concerned what will happen if they are found in my luggage.
