  1. I came three years ago from the USA with my dog Delta airlines rode in the cabin with us . Notified Agriculture at the airport via email prior to arriving we got in late at night office was open they checked the USDA certificate charged me 250 baht and sent me to customs . At customs I paid another 1000 baht which I got a reciept for . I had a layover in Japan and was met at the exit gate wanting to see the dogs papers . Thats the only time I was asked ..... If you can avoid checking your dog in baggage I would advise it . Anyway to keep them with you is best . Mine rode in a carrier that looked like a carry on bag . I had to take her out when I went through securtiy checks .... But it was rather simple ... Gettting all the documents before I left was a hassle because they had to be stamped by USDA within 10 days of my departure ... Good luck your pet will love it here mine does !

  3. There are 2 metal shops on Mae Jo Road ,opposite side to Caltex petrol station,

    before you reach Meechoke Plaza.

You should also consider, that they may keep intruders out,but in case of fire

may also prevent you from making a quick exit, the reason I don't have them,

the life of my family and i are much more valuable, than anything that can be

stolen, they can be replaced, but once your dead thats it !

I have considered that and my thoughts are I like to sleep with the windows open , Im on the perimiter of the moo baan on two sides . Weighing the options I ll go for the bars .....

Think carefully about the method of installation and you may come up with a solution. Example, a guy did his own installation leaving the bars on one window less solidly attached but with the same appearance. That one he could pull, pound or pry out quickly.

A good sledge hammer in the bedroom could serve a couple of purposes ......

  4. I was there today doing my 90 day report 3 days late $2000 baht no problem my stupid not theres. I felt sorry for the officer that took my money he had three pages of receipts to fill out ..

While I was standing there another man walked up and talked to a female officer said he had given his passport to an officer named MR XXXXX and he didnt get a visa . She explained to him that they did not have a MR XXXX who worked there . The entire thing sounded funny guy had his pass port . She was real nice and explained to him what he needed to do . Im not sure it sunk in with him or not ......BUt there never was any mention of money being paid .....

3 days = 1500 THB. No? I've managed to talk my way out of paying every time. Pure luck.

Well I thought I was going to slip by but not the case ..... I didnt try to talk my way out of it .. Just paid it ..... My 7th day would have been the 22nd Im not sure how they figuired it ....

  10. I always thought we needed 800,000 baht for a marriage visa, which is it???

The 800k number is for retirement extensions.

It is 400k for extensions based upon marriage to a Thai. Or income of 40k baht.

Can you not have 400,000 baht in the bank and proof of 32,500 baht a month income for retirement.

Same for marriage 200,000 baht in bank and proof of 20,000 baht a month income.

I have a retirement visa I was wondering if 200,000 baht in the bank and proof of 48.000 baht a month would work. No problem with guaranteed income now but if the government raised it and the baht got a lot stronger. I might have to resort to that.

You cannot combine income and money in the bank for an extension based upon marriage.

You can do it for retirement but the total has to be 800k. Not the sum of 65k by 12 which is only 780k.

This is wrong too you can use a combine income of money in the bank and a income. to make the 400.000..... A person married to a Thai must show 400,000 this can be money in the bank and also income yours or your wifes . You can use both to reach your 400 000 goal . For a retirement visa it is 800,000 that can be combined from income and savings . I you have no savings and an income of 65,000 baht per month that will sufffice even though it doesnt add up to the 800,000......

I really wish people would read the laws and requirements before posting things that get everyones but puckered ........

  11. Everyone needs to take notice: As of August 31st, marriage visa holders need to show 800,000 baht, the same as retirement and or 65,000 per month deposits in your bank statements for 3 months prior to application, so you can use the money but have to make monthly deposits of 65,000 each month at least 3 months prior to reapplication, this came from Immigration main office in Bangkok and has been instituted throughout Thailand. I dont know the link but just to make sure I would check the Thai govern

    ment immigration website

This is not true they have not changed the 400,000 to 800,00

For the op if you use the 400,000 and you fall short of a combined income of 40,000 a month your are up a creek no paddle ... Just a ride maybe to the airport . I strongly recomend against usig the 400k . As far as a home loan with SCB yes it can be done your wife will have to show 6 months of a 15,000 baht a month income . You ll also need a house plan done ......

There will also have to be a registered company that pays taxes on that money she earns .... If you go with a loan they will also hold the chanote on the land .

  13. I got my yellow book a few months back . Just needed a few documents and two people form the government to come with me . Took two weeks to get . No real use for it other than no need now to get a residence letter can use yellow book . At one point a few years ago if you were on the yellow book you could get on the 30 baht plan if you were also married to a Thai and here on a marrage extention . They have stopped this now ....
