I think we have more threads on the Chiang Mai forum than replies on this thread. Anyone left up there?

yes you maities are a "special" species, in all the world chips means potatoe snack, not french fries, plonkers
Oh I see you must be an American? In the UK the word 'chips' refer to what you call French Fries. Thanks. What sort do you mean--frozen Deep fat fryer ones?
I don't know anything about frozen deep fat fryers... They were potato chips in plastic bags and looked like you would buy in local markets. Whatever they were, I thought they tasted better than the name brands in Lotus, Big C, etc.

Do they lend?
OP, Tools are cheap here. Not the quality ones, but good enough to do the job. Never lend tools here, they either never come back or they come back broken, dirty or whatever....

Rain
in Chiang Mai
Big storm - lightning, gale force winds & heavy rain blew through south of San Kamphaeng at 3.00 am. Still haven't cleared up storm damage to trees from earlier in the week.

Rain
in Chiang Mai
Yeah, kicking up a lot here in Mae Hia and stuff flying around but dry. Trying to decide to water the lawn or not now.
water, it wont come....
Too late, nature just decided to do it herself, lots of it too.
See it now on the radar. Looks serious.

See enough lost souls drinking on the steps, outside. Possible inside, anyone?

Rain

Big t-storm in Pai; temp dropped to 20; garden soaked.
Good to hear. We've got the usual afternoon cloud build up, wind build up.....
And then nothing
What a tease....

I share your concern that police will start cracking down on Chiang Mai's notoriously raunchy night scene.
Gone will be the endless nights of titillating oriental allure, that feeling of being pulled into a frenzied vortex of sensuality and passion, never wanting to let go.
At least we were all here to have witnessed it. And we can take solace into being able to share our stories amongst ourselves, as nobody on the outside would ever believe them.
Hopefully, they'll ignore Mad Dog

Couple of days, now, with TV. Most other websites, no problems.

Back on topic, perhaps OP could go see Dr Morgan on Hangdong road, west side, south of Tesco. Not sure where she was educated, but she is "westernized" and has a good doctor - patient manner. Some of the docs (not all) at the hospitals have the attitude of "I'm the doctor, do as I say, don't question me & don't expect me to explain anything to you." Others are the opposite. A bit hit 'n' miss.

"well known western restaurant"
Maybe the staff were trying to recreate an authentic western ambiance?
Were they dressed as cowboys?

I'm off to Wine Connection tomorrow to buy a bottle and will report back with some useful comments.
If you're going to buy plonk, get it in a box, it's cheaper. I'm off to get my 3 bottles of slightly better stuff at Mae Sai duty free.

I refuse to use AC during the day.
It plays merry heck with the acclimatisation process and we get a fine breeze blowing through the house especially upstairs or in the garden where we both work with the French windows and balcony windows open..... .
Doesn't that just let the hot air blow in? Close all windows in my house before it heats up. Nice & cool inside. Open them up again in the evening, once it has cooled down outside.
