  1. They do and that's why runways are generally aligned east-west but the position of Doi Suthep relative to the airport precludes that in Chiang Mai (the runway is north-south).

Prevailing winds here are either from south or north. East-west runway here would not be advisable I would have thought.

  2. Perhaps bad-weather to the South, or over the airport, means some flights prefer to gain-height further to the North of town before turning and heading down to BKK ?

The new airport has been mooted for a decade or more, meanwhile they already doubled the size of the terminals & extended the runway, but it's still relatively-quiet ( a few million pax p.a.) so it should be able to handle several-times the current traffic if need be, before a second runway prompts the building of a complete new airport.

Then again, perhaps influential-people have brought the land already, and can over-ride logic about when a new airport is to be built ?

With the rate of development on the eastern side of the valley, I doubt whether there is space to build a bigger airport without compulsory purchase of villages.

  3. Yeah, she is really sharp and keeps herself busy with her own clinic as well as heading the endoscopy dept at R hospital as well as others?? does she still teach at CMU as well??

Also would like to give credit to the 'Foreign Relations' girls..........Natasha and a new one, who were there to help, but I had the Thai wife by my side and they backed off. They were really helpful on the phone and perfect English!! both from the Philippines.

I would like to find out if the antibiotics were given as a post exam precaution or as a cure to my diverticulitis??

JD, I was only given pain killers to take home afterwards. Didn't need them.

Dr J visited me in the recovery room afterwards & had an appointment with him a week later for biopsy results on 2 tiny (benign) polyps removed.

  4. Looks like Kad Suan Kaew Mall is feeling competition for hi-so clients and has done something to attract that crowd as seen here by the cars I saw parked there this afternoon. Also saw a red Rolls Royce driving by the train station, is there something going on?

The other JC (Jeremy Clarkson) & the Top Gear crew are in town to make a feature on Thai driving?

  5. All in all, unless one is addicted to the taste better to find alternatives. No other animal drinks the milk of another species.

Cows milk is useful for turning a calf into a 1,000 lb cow in a year.

I hope it doesn't turn human babies into this kind of size in that kind of time. Any kind of time for that matter...!

  7. I had mine done at Ram, but I cannot remember the name of the doctor. Took prep fluid from 6am, no drama. Checked in at Ram at 11:00, prepped and in theatre at 1pm. Woke up in the recovery room, visited by the doctor & given a colour photo set of my colon!! Went home at 2:30 pm.

Did not feel a thing, the staff were very attentive and the cost was just over 11000 baht.

Will go back for my 5 year check with no apprehensions about the procedure.

brommers, when was that? There seems to have been a steep rise in medical costs in the last couple of years or so. Cost me about 16,000 a year ago at Rajavej.

If folk quote operation, medical procedure costs, they really need to say when those costs were incurred or else the costs are meaningless. This applies to all medical procedure threads.
