I like cycling, but after one trip into the city, never again. The traffic exhaust fumes were awful.
When I go out on my bike, I truck it to the edge of the valley & enjoy quiet, traffic free cycling in rural environment. Don't even ride where I live in the ricefields - flat, hot & boring.

Would only work if physically separate from roads. Then would only have to share with m/c &
foodstalls.

How big a job is with a Triton?
Had my timing chain replaced last year on my Strada. They wanted to replace radiator & water pump at the same time. Settled for replacing water pump, but kept my radiator. Around 20,000 baht. But that was a chain, not a belt.
"Around 20,000 baht." How much Ky did they need? That's a lot of cash for a straight forward job that usually takes less than 4 hours. If your radiator is always full of coolant you probably don't need a radiator, just a radiator flush.
2 day job. Have to remove radiator & front of engine. This a timing chain, not belt.

Rain
in Chiang Mai
"The parched San Kamphaeng plains are in danger of desertification
"
What do you mean? I thought that people here on TV do not believe in global warming and its results.
You might be interested in discussing the effects of the fairly recent approx 5% increase in humidity in this region.
There really should be more rain coming down as well as faster evaporation.
Don't worry though
With desertification will also come plenty of sand and dust,
Where we will all be able to hide our heads
Only more so than normal.
There's plenty of dust blowing around from all the building sites.

Rain
in Chiang Mai
It has been raining fairly often, but, unfortunately, not enough to cool things down.
Very patchy though, probably more in CM.In BWT, Hang Dong, hardly enough to settle the dust let alone cool things down.

On cm108 FB page there is a notice about possible delays for a motorcade tomorrow morning, advising people to find alternative routes.

They do. Parents with babies sit in the seats next to the bulkhead, where cots attach to the wall. Book seats to the rear of the plane if you're likely to be disturbed. The airlines should really make more of an effort to put children and family in an area of the plane where they will be least annoying to other passengers, but this is difficult to do when most planes in Asia are packed.

Ask a dealer, but not the one doing your brakes

It is surprising why so many dignatories have to come into town and "lord it" in the likes of the D2 and ShagriLa; Meridian disrupting everything and everyone.
they have spent at least 2 years developing the conference centre; it still looks like an abandoned toy town....but did they not think of building accomodation there. middle of no where, security would seem easy (unless firebombed from the sky) and no need for police or anything.
even without accomodation, there are dormitories and 3 bed houses available at the 700yr stadium, now reduced 50bt a night from 600 to 550baht.
they should have shipped the lot of them there and spared the city.
What's wrong with the Phucome? Close enough
They could even set fire to Doi Pui & have the "son et lumiere" there

From Formula One to Formula E.
That's progress........Thai style!
Sorted!!!

I wonder what the atmosphere will be like at the circuit, watching silent E cars going round & round. No roar of F1 cars. Or will they play that over the PA system?

Are those things rigid enough to put things on? I'm thinking teddies, cushions, & other soft toys
One could make a fortune selling them.

Hope he made an online appointment with immigration

Thais probably wonder why falang go to F1 race tracks and enjoy the risk of a racing car hurtling into the crowd at 200 mph.
I guess that's why thailand's trying to get one

I believe under 12 yrs only get a discount on the airfare, not the taxes or other surcharges that make up a large portion of the total price. So you will be paying gbp558 for your ticket. My son will be charged nearly gbp800 & might be sitting next to you on both legs, so please don't bitch & moan you've paid more than the children for your ticket. How's it apples & pears? Everyone's on the same plane. Just get ripped off flying out of BKK.Lower price paid for kids? Last time I flew return to UK with my 5 yr old son, his discounted ticket bought in Thailand cost substantially more than people I spoke to who were flying UK-BKK-UK
Currently looking for flights to take him to UK for a holiday. Not much difference between quotes for my ticket & his.
I think you are comparing apples and pears there. Tickets bought ex-UK are invariably cheaper than tickets bought ex-BKK. My next flight is with BA LHR/BKK/LHR for GBP558 but the same ticket bought ex-BKK would have cost nearly double.
Don't 5-year olds still get significant discounts on the adult fare for the same sector? They used to.
btw, I take care of my son when flying. When he was one year old & cried, I held him & gave him love & attention till he was quiet. When he was 5, I made sure he was well behaved & he was. If my son was messing with the seat in front I would make sure it stopped, cos I for one wouldn't want someone messing with my seat.
And btw my main gripe is the plonkers who can't get out of their seat without pulling back on the seat in front. What's that all about? I don't do it!!

Perhaps the OP should post a question in the motoring subforum with regards to the possible pitfalls of buying a second hand car converted to run on lpg.

(Several of them already have for business and first class, in that they dont allow children.) They probably dont make any money out of children in economy either, once they factor in the lower price paid for the seats and the extra hassle and inconvenience and ill-will caused to flight crew and other passengers.

The folk launching them will have to check their calculations....

How Can Cm Establish A Bicycle Path Network Throughout The City?
in Chiang Mai
Posted
Making roads one way would probably help congestion in the city. eg Charoen Muang & Kaeow Nawarat should be one way, in & out of the city. That would free up space for cycle lanes. But in all honesty, it's the Thai people that should be asking for this. Need to convince them to take to their bikes. Not tourists. Climate is one drawback.
Park 'n' rides are needed, with parking on the superhighway ring road, with comfortable, frequent electric aircon buses heading into the centre, along all the arterial roads and around the moat.
