Worried about return to Thailand
KhunBENQ replied to Robin's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
In case they ask in Khon Kaen (unlikely after doing extensions since 2012) I will have a box of 23 old bankbooks plus some current ones 7 digit foreign transfers from 2011 included. Never throw away your old bank books. I will do a border run at Nong Khai on Monday to cancel my Non O-A status and return with exempt entry. As far as I know I can return same day from Laos, basically just wandering over the market and go back? Then on Wednesday or Thursday I will apply for Non O retirement at Khon Kaen. -
New regulations for traffic violation notifications
KhunBENQ replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
How often did I read: license extension will be suspended if fines not paid. And how often do I read here from posters saying: I don't give a .... Should we now assume that the rules are really enforced? -
Banks throughout holidays.
KhunBENQ replied to Edward Abbott's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
That's usually the case. Main branches (street front) are closed until Monday. Our Bangkok Bank micro branch in the mall is closed on Sundays since a while with some put-off about Covid. SCB and Krungthai in the same mall are open. -
Should I answer although doing it to Bangkok Bank? There will be no fee from SCB as the transfer is technically domestic in Thai Baht. You get what WISE shows you before hitting the send button. SCB, Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn are NOT hit by some strange new rule limiting transfer to 50000 Baht. My transfer to Bangkok Bank is usually next day 2 PM. Reason behind: I specify the reason for transfer as living cost for long term stay which makes it look like a foreign transfer in the book. Other posters report transfer in a few seconds. Anything in between.

Don't know why but the boys look a bit gay at the "Boy Gaga" bar. (from that arcade/walking street, blurred by me)

If you haven't been for a long time you will hardly recognize the beach now. They built a promenade all the way from police box corner to Pratamnak Soi 5. Quite nice to walk/ride. Many fit work out women in the evening jogging/exercising. It is still unchanged that many venues restaurants/bars in the area are preferred by gays. Many bars/restaurant at the "Super Town Jomtien Walking Street" a bit up from beach rd.

How fast get off from Suvarnabhumi airport?
KhunBENQ replied to 2 is 1's topic in Suvarnabhumi Airport Forum
From now to Sunday incl. there is a long holiday weekend and expected more congestion. But in normal times the connection should be fine. Where are you coming from? What day? 7 PM sounds like ThaiSmile WD46 from Suvarnabhumi. In the past they were mostly in time. But they started to produce some significant delays. Recently I was almost 1.5 hours late. Might be in your favor. -
Women say they were drugged at summer gathering of Germany's ruling party
KhunBENQ replied to Scott's topic in World News
(Robu was faster) Tried to find news update in German press. But no precise description. Colloquially called "K.O." drops (knock out). Likely Ketamin, Rohipnol also mentioned but this would be unusual. Women only: yes if you know that the drug is also called "date rape drug". Of course also well known in Thailand applied to males who paid a high price for the encounter (Ketamin alias Vitamin K, no taste, no smell). It's really getting worse in Berlin. "Spiking" at rave/techno parties is a "trend". Women getting a short needle injection. Believe it or not. What scumbags do this! -
Senna Tea - where to get it or/and "local name"?
KhunBENQ replied to aldriglikvid's topic in General Topics
You can get it as leafs: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/senna-leaf-i2152532254-s7180730328.html Or prepared in tea bags as in the above example. If you look for it in a shop, take a picture on the mobile. -
Senna Tea - where to get it or/and "local name"?
KhunBENQ replied to aldriglikvid's topic in General Topics
There are countless offers on the usual online sites like Lazada. Thai word for Senna plant: มะขามแขก (má-kăam kàek). Interestingly dictionaries translate it back as "Indian tamarind"(?). E.g.: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/10-i268637687-s420825012.html -

Can you save on petrol and diesel costs in Thailand?
KhunBENQ replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
1) prices from 4th July. Down 4.5 or so since then 2) pure petrol/benzene almost unknown to the very most motorist. Gasohol 95 is the benchmark. -
Clever remark. You realize that this is about mobile internet? About the OP: I have 15 Mbps flat with DTAC and it works with youtube, Facebook/instagram, newsclips and things. Used it a whole week when on travel in Thailand. 10 Mbps is about what is needed for an average video on a mobile. BUT: how good is the reception/signal at your site? Do you live in a very densely populated area? What does the raw performance measurement say if using: speedtest.net (please save remarks about "wrong test", it's about simple test of connection with AIS) For my DTAC it shows 15.37, so throttled quite precisely. Do you have a chance to test your desired sites at a fast WiFi somewhere (cafe, shopping mall etc.) to proof that they work in general?
