  1. Google translate of the Thai language text: https://www.dlt.go.th/th/car-license/view.php?_did=95 BTW the form has 5 self-declaration statements (one of them about epilepsy). I am sure they will do the "no" check-marks for you
  2. That's the rule I know. Max 30 days one month old https://www.dlt.go.th/en/renew-license/ (don't bother about temporary or other, same rules)
  3. Warning of mango and sticky rice. They can have that for cheap. Would they have the courage to point to the terribly unhealthy junk that is sold at 7/11 and others? Would they name Oreo? Fanta? Coke? And xxx other stuff. Guess not. Look around and see the little jumbo kids and tell me that's from mango and sticky rice.
  4. Dubai-Glasgow (DXB - GLA). The Emirates flights on 17th, 18th, 19th all in time. Today departed in time. Bangkok-Dubai not even worth checking. Will not be cancelled. The mid east airlines are the "winners" of the current airspace closures. Almost unaffected while other airlines struggle with long detours.
  5. Yes, Holiday Inn Express on Soi Buakhao is open since sometime this year. Can't tell exactly when.
  6. Yes, Areca times of budget rooms are over. Stayed there for 800/night at the Corona wing But now they went the SHA* route and back to more expensive rooms. Starts at about 1500 now ("specials"). Corona: some country I know labels Covid as Corona.
  7. And round the corner, Soi Lengkee: "Opey de Place". Basic room for less than a week is 750/day. Close by: "Vogue Hotel" and "P Plus hotel" (haven't stayed there). P Plus was full of Chinese. Guess empty now. Quite new and comfy. Another place on Soi Buakhao: "Nature View". Not on booking systems. Book directly at hotel. Good value for money. Vaccinated guests only. Prefer poolside rooms!
  8. 8 years ago was 2014. A terrible drought year. Here west of Khon Kaen strong thunderstorm with heavy but short rain yesterday. Short power outage. This afternoon little thunder/lightning, moderate rain but for three hours. Long power outage
  9. Khon Kaen He had used the same (fixed deposit) account seemingly since 10 years or so. He was stupid enough to leave his other two books (savings accounts) at home.
  10. And as usual first ask for book update (can be done at the counter without transaction at BKB) and then let the letter be printed. Do they ask for source of daily expense at Pattaya immigration in this case (fixed deposit, no transactions)? Happened to a mate elsewhere.
  11. Tomorrow. April 19? No holiday I am aware of. Enough for now. "Pattaya special Songkran" also over. Next one is Wed May 4. Labor day is NOT an office holiday
  12. And they would do a Covid extension to a tourist who arrived last month on a visa exempt entry? Doubt it.
  13. And limits to 20000 per transaction independent from the card limit. 150/20000=0.75% Compared to an ATM that gives 30k: 220/30000=0.73% AEON is out since they introduced the fee plus limitation. In the good old times I withdrew a maximum of 98000 Baht with no fee. For Transferwise from EUR I pay about 0.62% and a rate that is the currency market rate which can't be beaten at the time of transaction.
  14. I bet that in the village more than 70% of four wheelers are so called pickups. So called because the majority of them is not used for work/business but for person transport. All thanks to the stupid tax/subsidy policy. Most metal for the money. Clog narrow city roads with the oversized vehicles. Drivers fighting to maneuver them. Buying with the least possible security features making them more risky on wet roads etc
  15. Also applies to searching in Pattaya for one that pays 0.05 more. Have not seen bigger differences to TT Exchange for usual amounts. https://ttexchange.com/exchange-rate
  16. Would be my question too. It's quite normal that a Bangkok number appears if you use some special services for cheaper calls to Thailand (directed over the internet and then to the phone network in Bangkok). It's more than 10 years though that I had experience with that. Phone calls close to zero nowadays. All via messengers.
  17. All four flights of yesterday well in time (ahead or few minutes after schedule).
  18. Domestic? What airline? Checked baggage? I found the airport quite messy. Two times scanning the baggage. Showing documents maybe three times. Quite inconvenient. In the early morning you can hope for light traffic. So well under one hour. I tried BOLT. Don't! Drivers don't come, unreliable, lost 15 min waiting before 8 AM (and traffic becoming busy, no big jams though). For such early time you should prearrange.
  19. How difficult is it to use the web? AirAsia flight daily flight plus another flight 3 times a week. VietJet one flight daily. ThaiSmile one flight, 5 times a week. https://www.airasia.com/en/gb https://www.thaivietair.com https://www.thaismileair.com/en/
  20. Hardly any Thai driver seems to know that you should go to low gear or even switch automatic. Equivalent applies uphill A running gag: uphill on highway 2 (Mithrapap). It's a molehill to me but judging from the creeping vehicles fighting uphill it feels like the Khyber Pass.
  21. The difference is, that road death is road death (on the spot). Covid death? As far as I remember WHO rule: every person dying within 30 days after being tested positive is a Covid death. Every positive tested dying in hospital is a Covid death. Think about it.
