British Woman Injured in Pattaya Self-Harm Incident

A 50-year-old British woman, who was not named by authorities, was rushed to hospital after harming herself inside a rented room in Pattaya on 17 March 2026, prompting an emergency response from police and rescue workers. Officers from Pattaya City Police Station and the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation attended the scene at 15:00 at a property in Soi 5, Pratumnak. The woman was found barely conscious with a deep cut to her left wrist and significant blood loss.

Rescue workers administered first aid at the scene before urgently transferring her to Pattaya Bhattamakun Hospital for further treatment. Broken glass fragments were found scattered across the room, with lots of blood visible across the floor and bedding. Her condition at the time of discovery was described as critical but she was stabilised enough for transport.

According to the accommodation caretaker, identified as Ms Kiwi, the woman had checked in for a daily stay at around 02:00 earlier that night and was due to check out later the same day. During her stay, she was seen crying and appeared visibly distressed, showing clear signs of emotional strain. She had also instructed staff not to disclose her presence if anyone came looking for her.

Shortly before she was due to check-out, the woman requested drinking water and asked staff to contact rescue services, from her second floor room. When staff went to check on her in the room, they discovered a large amount of blood and broken glass, prompting an immediate call to authorities. Emergency responders entered and provided assistance.

Initial discussions by responders, with the woman indicated she had been experiencing stress related to personal issues, along with insomnia. However, the exact cause of the incident has not yet been determined. Police have stated they will contact her relatives and continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the case.

She made it everyone's business when she made her announcement, and chose to undertake her attention attracting scheme in a third party location.

Suicide, attempted or fulfilled, is a cry for help. To label it as an "attention attracting scheme" suggests a lack of empathy.

The only thing that is weird is your false claim that she involved the police and tabloids, she asked the hotel to get help, that's all that was reported.

Yes, and what do you think the result of such a request will include? As expected, and as it did, the police, rescue foundation and the press.

So, absolutely no false claim. Or did you think the hotel staff would be quiet and go get first aid and fix her themselves?

She didn't post it.

It’s called reporting the news, besides her name is not listed nor is there a photo of her face

No. It is a recognition of the behavior specific to women and gay males. I will not be surprised if this isn't the first time at attention seeking. "You'll be sorry when I'm gone."

People serious about suicide, don't undertake the drama that this person did. They just do it.

Seriously, you are such a wasted talent. The Samaritans are always looking for volunteers.

Which is why I tend to avoid mingling to much with the westerners in Thailand. Be it men or women, many come to Thailand with deep mental issues and assume that the change of climate will solve it all. I may consider it makes it worse and often can have a tragic outcome.

I know it's reporting, what's your point responding with that to my comment that she didn't post the story?

She didn't make the "announcement"!

What's this then?

" instructed staff not to disclose her presence if anyone came looking for her."

"asked staff to contact rescue services"

As I wrote, a person intent on ending their life does not make these dramatic announcements. They just get on with the intended act. That's the sad reality.

There are how many hotels and short stays in Pattaya, and some person is going to pick this specific one to come looking for her? Not likely. She was making an announcement that she was "important".

And if she was going to end her life, she would not have made a gash on one wrist and demanded rescue services attend. This was attention seeking behaviour, not likely a bonafide suicide attempt.

Wrist slashings in this manner rarely result in death. They can however cause permanent injury.

Avail yourself of the mental health literature. You will find that what I wrote is common knowledge. I will not be surprised if the woman has a history of self harm and is given to making "scenes" in public. It is a behaviour common to the emotionally immature and unstable. I am not being insensitive. There are people in serious turmoil who are suicidal and need help. I doubt this person was one of them. She needs a different type of mental health care.

boyfriend/husband playing with Thai Girls...break up ! Can be seen daily in Pattaya. Always travel alone to Sin City to avoid marriage desaster !

We (m and f) Aussie couple have been to Patts many dozens of time for 40 years with zero issues, 30 - 40 day stays on occasion. Id not live there because I don't really live anyway but I have itchy feet. My (f) partner loves the place because she says it's so full of energy. I don't drink but she is often at a bar with a thai girl chatting her up for lady drinks.
