This 77 year old gentleman has probably worked his nuts off building up that business and employing many Thai's in the bargain. Used up the bulk of his capital and probably offers good service to holidaymakers at his business, In his eyes he has done nothing wrong and is happy providing the service and maintaining his business and his investment. To me this is a low priority nominee matter he should be let off with a fine and given an opportunity to put matters right. Probably all initiated by a jealous complainant.

What about working without a permit and the businesses also not having the proper licences? Also let off?

FYI, I don’t see that there is any mention of nominees in the charges. So atm, it’s not really a nominee matter, priority or otherwise.

Its irrelevant really, whether the Thai nominees one paid in order to get them to sign some papers , enabling one to effectively own property or run a business, are prosecuted or not will have no bearing on ones fate, It would be little comfort when behind bars or deported Why wish them ill

Hm, This is what they want us to believe. That the law is the same for every one !! But in every country there are people that apparently can do everything they want to do.

The law always looks the other way. For some of these people the law eventually catches up with them after many years of making millions and more millions.

But some of those criminal people die peacefully without ever been bothered by the law, after living a life of luxury with stolen money.

You could write simple programs to do that with any computer since the 80s but they've chosen not too for some reason. I don't understand their lax law enforcement stance but AI wasn't the thing that made it possible.

Thailand is a great place to visit and live while you are young enough to enjoy it. Just don't get caught up in the never ending push to buy anything period. Except a vehicle, best thing I ever did in Thailand. Thailand and the people have had decades and trained endlessly on how to F*&ck a farang.. And the greedy and stupid foreigners fall for it daily..

I was told , from a business point of view, that if you ever get F*&cked in Pattaya it is more likely than not going to be a farang not a Thai.

it starts with the Thais trying to sell something to foreigners, for instance real estate agents offering you to own land and house through a company and even introduce their lawyers. But of course they are not legally punished, but at least their business model will suffer and land and house prices will come down without foreign investments.

Several reports indicated that the Thais are also being investigated but they won't be arrested until the investigations have been completed, as happened in this case.

It was not reported that he was involved in illegal nominees, it was reported that he was working illegally, though.

There's no reason for the estate agents to be published if they're not doing anything wrong, all they're doing is selling. Accountants or lawyers, nominees and the foreign "owners" are the ones in the wrong, legally.

So shell companies with no, or just a couple of employees, no rotation of staff for years, no social security payments for staff's accounts, no regular bills or revenue will rise to the surface and be reviewed. When she was able to answer pretty much everything they quickly realised she was not a nominee but a genuine vested partner and Co executive, they let her go before calling each other idiots for pulling in the wrong person.

So the AI will probably pick up naturalised Thais or half Thais with foreign names too. I am waiting for them to visit.

It may be hard to imagine for some, but Thailand does have laws and does abide by them. The likelihood of Thailand "snatching back" foreign owned condos is nigh zero. And even if some crazy politician suggested such an act, the big developers would crush him before he finished the sentence.

Think the poster ( toby1947 ) was referring to, the crazy people,

that have, and still are buying condos in company names.

As for the condo owners, that have bought into the foreign quoter 49%

they will be fine, they are protected under the condominium act.
