Drunken Outburst in Pattaya Leads to Foreigner's Assault

In Pattaya, a foreign man faced assault by a group of Thai men after disrupting traffic. The incident occurred early yesterday, February 26, when the foreigner stripped to his underwear and socks and rushed into the road, causing chaos. The aftermath saw him beaten until intervention by a bystander led to a halt.

The event took place on Pattaya Tai Sai Sam Road in the Bang Lamung district around 5 am. Witnesses reported he had been out with friends at a nearby venue before his erratic behavior escalated. Allegedly under the influence, the man began attacking passing vehicles, leading the group of men to retaliate.

The video, shared on social media, drew significant criticism focusing on the excessive nature of the assault. Online reactions condemned the attackers' response despite understanding the frustration caused by the disruption. The woman who posted the video suggested the man's behavior prompted an aggressive reaction from the local men.

Following the incident, police took the injured man into custody, charging him with disruptive behavior under the influence. This charge carries a potential fine of 5,000 baht as per Section 378 of the Criminal Law. No motorists have filed damage complaints related to the man's actions.

Looking ahead, police continue to investigate the incident, ensuring all parties are held accountable. The situation highlights ongoing concerns around alcohol-related disturbances in nightlife areas like Pattaya. Authorities may increase patrols or community outreach efforts to mitigate similar occurrences in the future, reported The Thaiger.

Watch the video and tell us again that you are in agreement with kicking a guy in the head who is already down and out and does not present a threat to anyone

Why am I naive to believe that kicking someone in the head when they are out of the fight and do not present a threat is unnecessary? Intentionally inflicting brain damage or killing someone isn't being brave or tough, it is stupid.

Edited Quote:

It was a group of men escalating to extreme violence because they could. Because they are thugs.

Being fed up does not automatically produce near-fatal assaults. Character does.

These incidents also tend to occur in high-tourist areas, there are Thai people who are tired of badly behaved foreigners and still manage not to beat someone unconscious. That alone shows this was not about national sentiment - it was about individuals willing, perhaps eager, to act violently when given the opportunity.

In places like Patong or certain parts of Pattaya, you often see a cycle - more ill-mannered tourists, more short-tempered locals, and the atmosphere becomes abrasive.

I much prefer parts of Thailand where I am treated with the same indifference Thais show each other - no special favour, no special hostility.

But there does seem to be a small element of men in some of these tourist hotspots with a hair-trigger response - not acting out of national outrage, but because they feel entitled to react aggressively. That is not patriotism. It is opportunism - a dog-pack.

Regarding last comment in quote.

In these types of events ( Thai people are angry) it could be a series of verbal or physical escalations past what is normal in Thailand.

If you are coming to Thailand for a month a year for past 5 years and not keeping up with Thai news and events when in Passport country you still know little.

Thai people have great Poker Faces and at times relaxed emotions. Unfortunately when Thai's react verbally or physically they are already at or near a 7 out of 10.

Thailand is somewhat of a mind your business society. Don't comment or get involved beyond a smile or facial expression.

Respect, staying calm, normal verbal tone to work through problems. Understand they haven't received the same training, education, or wide access to educational resources (internet) and ones they access are mostly in Thai language.

My advice, be relaxed, open to new way of thinking and different method of performing work and understand the info from both of us contributors and you should have little problems.

By all means control and subdue the idiot so he can't continue causing chaos / and attacking vehicles...

But that was not subduing him - that was attacking him with far more force and violence than the situation called for.

You are of course assuming at 5am in Pattaya ALL concerned in this matter were of sound mind. 🤣

I mean time and setting ARE factors. Your genius is quite funny in some posts.

Should be 3 years jail for kicking head when on ground. So cowardly. The half nude guy was harmless.

But he was causing a disturbance. Definitely an action that warrants a possible lethal kick to the head.

Imagine kicking a man in the head because he caused a disturbance. Smh. Neanderthal behavior.

Don't dramatise, they just kicking this crazy m@therfµcker with harmless sneakers

If they didn't this moron was still disturbing the trafic. Well done, hope fully he learned the lesson, otherwise next time they beat the <deleted> out of him with cowboy boots

Your sociophonetics and mangled language are as diagnostic as your absence of sympathetic nuance. The linguistic poverty and reflexive defence of violence suggest this isn’t abstract for you. You wouldn’t be commenting. You’d be the one in the boots....

True for the very young, and a slap can teach quick, but it can't get out of hand, using violence every time, especially as they age. Then it teaches violence is the answer. These cowards learned this at home, with either an absent or abusive father, and or mother. Adults are supposed to act like adults and not toddlers running wild. This could have ended with a few subduing the man and holding him until either he calmed down or the police came. This action is being done many times all over Thailand and being a learned behavior, will continue. If they tried this in the US, ganging up 5 against 1,all of them would have been found and hospitalized. It doesn't happen besides withing gangs.

Agree with your point, some people do decide to learn boundaries and respect the hard way.

Here we go again, another disrespectful foreigner.

His antics, causing chaos, something he'd get away with in the west but here in Thailand, lessons learned.

I reckon he's going to behave himself in future.

Well done to the Thai men 👍

Oh the courageous Thai men kicking someone already laying on the ground and unable to defend himself! 🤣
