Israeli mother and daughter attacked on Koh Pha Ngan

An Israeli mother, 62, and her 23-year-old daughter were seriously injured in an alleged assault on Koh Pha Ngan after a man asked where they were from and was told they were Israeli.

The suspect, who holds a French passport, was later arrested after allegedly becoming involved in another violent incident. The women said they believe the attack was connected to a discussion about the war in Gaza.

Attack followed question about Israel

The mother had travelled to Thailand for a two-week visit while her daughter was already travelling in the country. They rode a motorcycle to a waterfall on Koh Pha Ngan and parked near the road before walking about 100 metres towards the site.

They were buying a coconut when a man on a motorcycle stopped behind them and began talking to them, the mother told Ynet from her hospital bed.

"He asked my daughter where we were from, and she said Israel," she said. The man then challenged them over the war in Gaza, telling them: "I don't like what Israel is doing there."

The mother said she told him they were on holiday and did not want to discuss the issue. He replied, "I'm against violence," before the exchange ended.

Moments later, she said, the man called to them from above, came down towards them and attacked. "Out of nowhere, he started beating me viciously and bit my ear," she said.

Her daughter tried to protect her and was also beaten. The mother said she was struck on the head and apparently lost consciousness.

Both women needed surgery

The daughter ran towards the road to get help and called out to two French women. The suspect chased her, according to the mother, but fled on his motorcycle when he saw other people nearby.

Police and an ambulance were called, and the women were taken to a hospital on Koh Pha Ngan. Medical staff decided both required surgery after a CT scan found bleeding in the mother's head, prompting their transfer by boat to a hospital on Koh Samui.

Their conditions were initially described as serious but later stabilised. The mother spent 24 hours in intensive care, while her daughter underwent surgery on her nose. The mother had surgery on her ear and said she may need another operation.

Arrest linked to separate incident

The mother said police later told them the suspect had gone to another town, caused a disturbance and attacked police officers. Officers did not initially know he was connected to the assault on the two women.

After police spoke with the women and the daughter gave a statement, they recalled the suspect's name. Police then identified him as the same man allegedly involved in their case, the mother said.

She said she had considered Thailand welcoming towards Israelis and had not expected such an attack. "We will learn not to say we are from Israel, because you can never know how someone will react," she said.

So very true Mot, the Make America Great Again people certainly welcome the Israelis to their country as we consider the Israelis Freedom Fighters. And the MAGA patriots are not Jew haters like most liberals.

ulta maga.jpg

Where your statement lost credibility was when you said most liberals are Jew haters. That is so incredibly false, and that's just a simple minded Republican meme.

Now if you had said most liberals are critical of extremist Israeli policy you would be correct. But that's a very very different thing than hating Jews. And that's just simply the false narrative that AIPAC and some of those other credibly corrupt organizations are promoting.

Simplistic minds will always try to reduce a statement to a meme. I don't hate my country but I do realize that my country has multiple defects and terrible leadership. And I'm not afraid to speak out against that. Trump supporters love to label that as hatred of America and anti-Semitism.

Recent polls within Israel have shown that 67% of the population support the ongoing actions of the IDF. If you want to deny that that's genocide go right ahead.

In no way, whatsoever, is that genocide. A ridiculous, totally unjustified assertion.

Thailand isn't responsible for the violent acts of a French citizen living in or retired in or vacationing in their country. Most Thais, for the most part, don't care what happens outside of the borders of Thailand and ASEAN in general and don't get involved in Geo-politics. Europeans? Different people. They have the guy arrested. He should be made to pay for the medical bill, given the choice of jail or public apologies (this IS Thailand), and permanent banned from entering Thailand in the future.

What are you basing this statement on? A simple AI query tells me that only 37% of Israelis agree with their government today.

It used to be more than 70% and it is only down to 37 now because Iran let them have it big time and now all of a sudden after they got a good taste of their own medicine and their daily lives got affected by it, they don’t wanna play anymore….

I think it would be a reasonable position to argue that anything connected to Iran is also connected to Jews and Israelis these days.

While you can argue that Israel didn't start this you have to take into account that Israel supported Hamas for a long time and the fact that that turned around and bit them in the butt is not the problem of the Palestinian people. But Israel's extremist policies certainly are the problem of Israelis and Jews around the world now.

Thats not genocide .

Israel was getting bombed on a regular basis and the Israeli public were complaining that the government isn't doing anything to stop the bombs .

The public support action taken to stop the bombs

Well they are banned from some 15 countries already, but their own State needs to warn them of being cautious when overseas. Even the USA warned their own citizens during some of the Arab conflicts. Random acts of violence against people based purely on their Nationality, Religion etc is the definition of a racist.

Yes, you're right. Israelis are racists for sure. That's why they are to ban to enter Thailand at least. For racism there is no place

On the other hand, they don't speak out or attend demonstrations against their country's wars.

WHY would someone bother to talk politics let alone initiate violence against anybody of any nationality on a holiday. Sad.

I'm sure this will hit the Israeli press hard. Will they blame it on antisemitism or rightly blame is on Israel's wars?

Including against Israelis. Theser countries should be sanctioned if Israelis can't get a visa. Of course, nobody wants to visit where they're not welcome. What give money to support racism?

Regardless of above debate, we must differentiate between governments and their citizens. Just because someone lives in certain country or has that country's citizenship, it does not mean that person supports the actions of his or her government.

And even if they do, no reason to attack them!

Violence is always the coward's way out, including countries.

You could say that the US negotiations are not going very well. That tends to happen when you invite a highly inferior group of men to negotiate a deal. Trump is stuck with only plan A and he's unable to improvise or pivot likely due to his old age and total lack of flexibility and imagination.

Iran’s state broadcaster published the statement by the council’s secretary, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, who is also a commander in the powerful Revolutionary Guard.

The U.S. must never threaten Iran again, the statement said, and must permanently end the war with Iran and its armed allies in the region. The U.S. must lift the naval blockade of Iranian ports and withdraw its military from the area. It also must “completely compensate” Iran for war damage, lift sanctions and “unconditionally” release frozen assets.

Yes. Israel is one of the most cowardly and thin-skinned N

nations on the planet, it's always the blame game, it's always about them, it's always about people picking on the chosen people, it's always about anti-Semitism.

Whatever you do don't ever take responsibility for your own actions, don't ever admit that something happens due to decades of toxic policy and very bad judgment such as supporting Hamas for ages, and don't ever speak truth.

This is a situation that's known as blowback and there are multiple ramifications for an extremist government conducting genocide against its neighbors and trying to wipe out the entire Palestinian population. Multiple Israeli officials have been on record as saying that's what they're attempting to do. So when an Israeli citizen travels around the world they have to expect flack from people who disagree with extremist policy.

Having said that a verbal argument is one thing, attacking a woman and her daughter is something entirely different and something like that is never Justified unless you're protecting yourself.

I get blowback from people for being American, and I quickly remind them that I despise Trump, I think he's a blight on America, and a street garbage creep, and I disagree with virtually all his policies. Once I say that people tend to relax and nod in agreement.

No citizen of any country deserves "blowback" for what they're evil govts do!

It's as if there's an endless parade of people who have not done their research, have not done their homework, don't have any idea what the real issues are, and just simply resort to juvenile memes to describe someone who's critical of extremist Israeli policy. It's almost as if they're a hired spoke person for AIPAC, shooting off that nonsense and always equating criticism of Israel with hatred of Jews. That is the very definition of ignorance.

Well, your posts are confused.

You gave a thumbs down when I said "there is no place for racism".

Do you really think there should be places where racism is welcome?

Could it be you lost the track (or your marbles)?👎
