Or he may be too proud, or embarrassed, to get help from Thais for that transport, maybe he was trying through his family/friends instead, without any luck.

Let's sum up the story with one word: crazy

Poor guy. Fell for a Thai romance scam. Seems he met her through Thaifriendly. Why? More than 90% of the ladies advertising on TF, that they are from Nakhon Sawan are not actually there.

But still, how could he not help himself? He could have found the address of the Norwegian Embassy, easily. He could have stepped into a police station, tourist police station or the immigration office to find adequate help.

I don`t get it.🤔

The rules are still the same, if they catch you, it's a fine or jail in lieu, then detention at IDC until you can come up with (the money for) a ticket home.

If it is anything like the UK's rules, where any repatriation travel and expenses provided by the government needs to be paid back, otherwise it's more time in court, more detention and other restrictions on freedom. Maybe this guy didn't like those terms before but has no choice now.
