Amazon, Puntai et al

Does anyone go regularly for coffee ?

I have been here 1 year now in Pattaya and I just noticed a little phenomenon. 9 weeks ago I was in Puntai Coffee and I asked for a large Cappocino, I paid for and sat down ( I hate this system by the way ...you should have the goods first for inspection then pay....) It was delivered to the table , very hot. after a few minutes I took the lid off and could feel there was no or very little coffee in it but the froth was right up to the top . I said nothing.

I usually travel around and visit all the coffee shops in the area. Then it happened again in Puntai ....exactly the same incident.

Then yeasterday again in a different Amazon, about a centimetre of coffee and froth right to the top .

I woke up this morning and realised why ......TIP !

They were telling me to tip.

Now heres the thing I ALWAYS put a few 20 notes into the box , not every time but often.

Am I wrong about this ?

Stay in Amerika

Never been asked to tip, or tip box pointed out at either Amazon or PunThai. Sounds about right, as 1/3 coffee, 2/3 milk & foam.

Could order extra shots of Espresso.

You may want to order one of the top 2 on the list ...

Doppio for me, every time.

Or, in my language, 'double shot short black'.

I gave up on cappuccinos/late for same problem. Now I buy Americano and add my own organic milk (Tops market, some 7-11) or soy milk (I take one for coffee everyday). Some individual coffee places will heat up your own milk (without showing any additives). Sometime I take my own coffee (decaf) to make it for me (some friendly ones), no problem.

I've generally stopped going to coffee shops as they are too expensive and far too often not very good. I bought a caftierre (French Press) from Ikea and do my own. Ground coffee seems quite expensive, but is way, way cheaper and better than most shop-bought coffees.

I agree with you on not going back to the USA by the way.

I'm a regular at Starbucks, Dutch Brothers, Merit and 7 Brew in Texas but here Starbucks is 1 1/2 hours away and not worth the drive unless I'm already there. Amazons are okay but some don't carry Equal or Oat Milk, which I order with my iced coffee. I have to bring my own Equal to many of them. When my iced coffee is made, most of it is ice, like your foam in your cups. Not as much coffee as I get back home. Like Watawattana said, you can make your own unless you're out and about, although we will be going back home 😀. I intend to make a full coffee bar when we move back to Texas, but will still visit those places when I'm driving around.

When O&A we hit the coffee shops for the pastry and pleasent place to take in the view, not for the coffee usually. Occassionally it's tasty, but usually not.

We travel with coffee for our morning cup of. Too lazy to shower and go out for mediocre coffee early morning. Roll out of bed, with ours on the hotel balcony or veranda.

One thing I do miss are good pastries, but they're too hard to burn off so I stayed away from them for decades. I will have a Cannoli when a good one appears.

Totally wrong. I frequent Amazon (different branches) regularly, Punthai occasionally, usually have a Cappuccino in a porcelain cup (not paper cup), and have never encountered what you are describing.

Much better if you grind your own beans.

This is how they're taught to make it in these stores. If you want cappuccino, best order latte.

Amazon ... order a large Latte (65 thb), you should be happier, along with I already sipped some ...

I like my coffee hot and I like it to stay hot thats why I have my coffee in a paper cup, with a lid on . If its in a porcelein cup it goes cold very quickly ......

No Lamyai they are not taught to put a few millimetres of coffee on the bottom then froth to the top . If you read again you will see I say they fill the coffee to the top with 2-3 millimetres of froth .

Unfortunately no one addressed the real issue of my poem .....☹️🤣
