A friend of mine ran a website for many years and refused to allow any comments, knowing that most would be abusive and irrelevant, and contain comments from people who were unable to read/comprehend/bother to properly read what they were commenting about.

This thread is a great example of why he was right to do so. Ironically, those posting such comments no doubt imagine they are better than the victim they comment about, when those comments indicate the opposite.

it would be odd nowadays although 30+ years ago I remember many hotels did not have safes in the rooms, if there were safes available they were generally at reception, looked like a large filing cabinet with lots of small lockable drawers , If I remember correctly, each draw needed two keys to open it, one which was given to the customer and one retained by the hotel to at least give the illusion of security, although obviously the hotel kept copies of all keys.

Yes, the law is relative new — in this case "reletive" is the 1st January 1999 — the two Swedish kickboxers' extra bed-exercise rehearsals in Silver Sand on Chaweng Beach might have helped their home country's politians to eestablish that law...
