Phuket Fishermen Rescue Tourist from Spinning Dinghy

A foreign tourist was rescued by Thai fishermen after falling from his dinghy near Nai Yang Beach, Phuket, on February 22. The unmanned dinghy spun in circles after the fall, creating a potentially dangerous situation. A police officer, Bandasak Silert, recorded the event, sharing it with news agencies.

Prior to the incident, the tourist had anchored his yacht offshore and used the dinghy to reach the beach. While the engine was still running, he accidentally fell into the sea, causing the boat to go out of control. Local fishermen observed the situation and intervened, pulling the man from the water.

Reacting quickly, the fishermen maneuvered their boat near the circling dinghy, enabling the tourist to climb back aboard and stop the engine. Fortunately, no damage occurred to either vessel, and the tourist was unharmed. Thai social media response was positive, commending both the fishermen and the tourist for their swift actions preventing further issues.

Looking ahead, safety measures and guidance for tourists using dinghies in the area may be reviewed. Local authorities could consider issuing alerts to ensure similar incidents are avoided, prioritizing both tourist safety and environmental protection in Phuket, reported The Thaiger.
