Just a remark not directly related to this case. I saw several Videos on social media of guys in Thailand filming with smart glasses while starting conversations with people walking in the street. I consider this as highly inappropriate doing video clips without asking for permission and posting this online. That people walk around with mobile phones and cameras is one thing but the anonymous smart glasses bring it to another level.

Just wait until fentanyl takes over.. zombies everywhere.

It is getting out of control...yesterday, I too did the walk and every 10 feet, there is a scruffy, quality tourist from you know where, asking me to buy drugs. Then, at night, the number of those guys quadruple. It is like walking around a part of that continent at night.

I am aware of this area of BKK, but lately, it has become annoying.

Between them and the guys selling watches (when did the Thais stop selling watches) and the idiot selling peanuts, the over priced restaurants scamming folks, this part of BKK will be off my list.

If I want to be scammed, Las Vegas, Miami, LA and New York is always there to steal from me.

Social media is how you get action from the police these days from what I can see.

Once something goes viral, the cops are on it like a flash because of the embarrassment caused.

I certainly doubt that he would have got any interest from the cops had he simply reported his experience to them. Might be wrong, but I doubt it.

Agree, especially walking around filming drug dealers with your child in tow. If someone comes to you wanting to sell Coke, you go to the police and tell them. They see you filming them and you might be visited by someone later at your hotel.If the police want to follow up it's their deal.

American drug culture has been here for many decades, much of it started here in Asia with Opium through China's immigrants. Back in 1852 there were Opium dens opened up in Thailand. The cultivation also started here early in the 20th century.

Marijuana has been here all along medicinally and then as a high.

Meth was sold legally here at gas stations and truck stops for truckers and other long hour workers. In the 1990's it turned to more use among regular civilians as Yaba although it was banned. Drugs are and have been everywhere, although they are highest in America and then Europe and Australia.

I have lost count of the times I have been offered various drugs along Sukhumvit but gentlemen the colour of burnt toast.

Ratting out drug dealers often stops ... on a dead end street.

Drugs are destroying society all over the world. Far to much money and corruption involved all over the planet to put it efficiently to an end. Far to many top level politicians and bureaucrats in power who are addicts and mental junkies in some sort. Fighting the trafficking has prooved costly and useless. Time to start tracking and hunting down the consumers instead. No more consumers = no more drug trafficking - rather obvious. Sorry to my junkie friends, no offense. 🙏

It's the old chicken and egg situation.

Just buy when you want, not every time a guy asks. Good grief.

Police is too busy with traffic checks to fine you for no reason for cash, without ticket. (always ask for a ticket to pay later)

Most of them are here on a DTV visa, no work permit required if income is from overseas.

Seriously him gabbing on social media about particularly as a farang it will do him no favours. Thailand doesn't like being dissed openly on the web and it's an implicit criticism of the Thai police.

The main issue is criminal defamation. Thai Penal Code §§326–328 cover statements or publications that identify someone in a way likely to damage their reputation, and publication by film/video or other publicity falls within the aggravated publication provision.

Ok, just a minor remark, not serious but worth to mention. In my personal opinion there are too many members here posting what Gemini, chatgpt and other AI software is telling them. While AI can be very helpful everyone can use it if necessary. Just my opinion of course. 😉
