A man drew a gun on Bang Saen beach after a disagreement over charges for renting a rubber tire.

But there may be more to the story - the people involved were relatives of an ex Chonburi member of parliament.

The incident happened on Saturday evening as Amornrat Chomklin and his wife were looking after a rubber tire rental business. They are relatives of ex Chonburi MP Suchart Chomklin.

A woman came up to ask about charges and was told 50 baht. A man shouted "why not 40 baht?" and an argument broke out.

As Amarin Chomklin, 40, the elder brother of Amornrat, approached the altercation turned physical and the man got out a gun.

He then walked round and round the area brandishing the weapon.

Police arrived to calm the situation but the man managed to get away in a Ford pick-up, reported Thai Rath.

Amornrat and his wife Noppaporn later went to Saensuk police to register a complaint claiming that the man was trying to commit murder.

Police registered a charge of threatening behavior and are now looking for the gunman.
