Mallikar withdraws defamation suit against ex-Air Force officer

By The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Former Democrat MP Mallikar Boonmeetrakulmahasook on Tuesday withdrew her defamation lawsuit against a former Air Force officer relating to a pornographic video clip that the defendant had posted on a Line group.

Mallikar dropped the suit against ACM Yutthaporn Phupaibul, formerly a specialist in the Air Force, in an out-of-court settlement.

She said she had decided to withdraw the suit after Yutthaporn had given her a sincere apology and promised to announce to the public via online and printed media that she was not the woman shown in the video clip.

Yutthaporn posted the clip in a Line group twice – on December 28 last year and January 11 – saying that it showed Mallikar nude.

The clip was later leaked to other social media, prompting the former Democrat MP to file the lawsuit.

Yutthaporn said he would inform members of his Line group that he had made the post out of a misunderstanding.

He added that he was sorry and would like to offer a sincere apology to Mallikar.
