January 6, 200719 yr Can some tell me if in Thailand you have a different Thai Driving License for driving vehicle with an Automatic gear box, than driving a vehicle with a manual gearbox…? Or is it one license for both.
January 6, 200719 yr Odd question, but no you don't have two licenses. However if you wish to also drive a motorcycle, then you need a license for it also.
January 6, 200719 yr Sorry, I don't know the answer, as all people whom I know, made their tests on manual shift-cars. In Europe, however, if you pass a test on automatic you are only allowed to drive automatic and your licence shows such restriction.
January 7, 200719 yr In Europe, however, if you pass a test on automatic you are only allowed to drive automatic and your licence shows such restriction. strangely, i don't think there is any distinction in Thailand. even if u take your test in an automatic, you are still licensed to drive a manual. i took my test a few years ago in an automatic but now drive a manual
January 7, 200719 yr Only one License for auto/manual. I guess the thinking is you should be able to drive both, if not you will learn real fast, after a few trash cans, or taking out a row of motor bike. You do, need another license for a Motorcycle. Which is a JOKE, I see each and every day 10 year olds or younger ride their Motor cycle right down the busiest street in town Hint: TIT!! (this is Thailand)
January 7, 200719 yr The test is different. They won't ask you to parallel park if you are driving a manual. Evidently drivers park automatics which explains why they are always parked in the middle of the road. You will be asked to prove that you can start on an incline without rolling backwards.
