webfact Posted September 12, 2017 Share Posted September 12, 2017 Gen Prayut affirms govt's commitment towards human rights policies BANGKOK, 12 September 2017 (NNT) - Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has affirmed the government's commitment to protecting human rights via its justice system, creating equality and reducing social conflict. Prime Minister Gen Prayut-Chan-o-cha delivered a keynote address on mobilizing human rights policies for 2018-19 according to the Thailand 4.0 agenda for sustainable development. He affirmed the government's commitment to addressing human rights issues and raising the standard of human rights in the country. Agencies will be tasked with following up on reports of human rights violations, summarizing issues, and providing solutions and regular progress reports. The premier also stressed that human rights policies must be held to international standards and that the justice system must serve as a channel for equal access to protection under the law. Law enforcement agencies must be careful not to violate the rights of citizens while performing their duties and must instill awareness among all sectors regarding the principles of human rights in order to reduce conflict and create peace and reconciliation in society. Gen Prayut also talked about the government's "4+3+2+1" agenda for creating peace in society. The agenda consists of "creating" in four areas awareness, a follow-up system, innovation, and networks; "adjusting" in three areas databases, attitudes, and legislation; "mobilizing" local agencies and the country's human rights agenda; and "reducing" human rights violations. -- nnt 2017-09-12 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They seem to be at the top of the list for handing out injustice! They do what they are told, they do not follow the laws of this country, and innocents rot in prison. After all they had to buy their position on the Bench by bribing someone higher up the ladder of "justice". Or allowing private parties to bring criminal defamation cases in a legal system where truthfullness is not an absolute defense? How does that fit with intl standards?? Why don't they start with the two Burmese guys who are currently rotting in jail (and awaiting capital punishment, no less) as scapegoats, after a totally botched investigation and a grossly inequitable trial, due in no marginal part to the fact that a certain Prime Minister stated, before the investigation even started, that 'no Thai person could do such a thing', and thereafter wholeheartedly supported the police 'findings', all along, even though the media outcry was deafening. Oh, wait, I forgot, he hates the media unconditionally because they don't do and say what they're told to do and say, like good soldiers ... so whatever they claim, on whatever topic, can only be fake. That uses rubbish laws such as defamation that is actually also used by government agencies lol. A law used to protect corrupt government officials and the Lese law is a joke. This article is not even laughable.
