Army medical team gives free artificial limbs to disabled in deep South

By The Nation

A 13-member team from the Royal Thai Army Medical Department's Phramongkutklao Hospital is preparing to provide free artificial limbs to 100 disabled persons and has repaired another 99 artificial limbs in the deep South, as a merit for HM the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The team, led by Orthopedic Division head Colonel Nusorm Chaiphrom, had the patients try on their artificial limbs on Tuesday, ahead of a ceremony to formally hand over the limbs on September 26. Twenty of the recipients were maimed in the region's unrest.

Yala's Yaha district resident Maimunoh Haloh, 41, who lost her left leg in a October 23, 2010 bomb attack said she was deeply grateful for the late monarch's kindness to disabled people. This was the third artificial limb she has had since the 2010 incident.
