Visa Scenario, Help Required!

Hi all.

My name is Pete, i'm Australian and 20 years of age.

I'm currently in Thailand on a 60 day tourist visa, about to leave the country tomorrow (my 15th day in the country) to go into Cambodia for four days. I then plan on re-entering Thailand, my dilemma being that i anticipate spending ~ 38/39 more days in Thailand after my re-entry (.

Will i get a 30 day stamp on re-entry or will i still get my 60 day visa eligibility?

If i only get a 30 day stamp am i able to get that extended for another 30 days on application for a visa extension with the appropriate body?

Or will i have to do a border run?

I will be down south towards phuket at some point so if this was required was thinking of heading to malaysia via bus. Or maybe overstaying as it may be more cost efficient, though i'm not sure about the legal dramas this may incur.

In addition, has anyone had any experience changing international flights with Thai Air (or other) and associated dramas/costs etc.

For 1,000 baht and several 4x6cm photos (1 if in Bangkok) you can obtain a re-entry permit at an immigration office in Thailand before you travel. When you return you put that information in your visa area of arrival card and get stamped for the same permitted to stay date you currently have. Problems solved and no visa runs required.

Do not over stay. Basic cost is 500 baht per day and it could result in jail time and will always provide a black mark in your passport.

The best solution (and ultimately the cheapest) is as Lopburi says above as it will allow you to remain in Thailand for the entire period after you return from Cambodia. However you can enter Visa free and get a stamp on entry for 30days upto 3 times.
