Lt Gen Piyawat Nakwanich, the 4th Army commander, has ordered all operating units to go on the offensive against perpetrators of violent incidents in Kabang and Yaha districts of Yala province in which one soldier was killed and 19 people wounded on Thursday (Sept 14), Internal Security Operations Command (Isoc) Region 4 spokesman Col Pramote Prom-in said.

Col Pramote said at about 7am a number of militants planted a bomb on the foot of a roadside power post near Ban Lalae in Tambon Kabang of Kabang district and detonated it.  The bomb explosion caused the power post to fell.

A unit of the 47th Rangers Task Force and an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team rushed to the scene for examination.  On Highway 4070 at Ban Padaeru in Tambon Katong of Yaha district, about 10 kilometres from the scene of explosion, another bomb was detonated.

Another bomb went off while the rangers were clearing the site.  A ranger, Lance Corporal Thanetporn Phuttho of the 47th Ranger Task Force, was killed and many other people wounded.
