700-1200 depending on the jeep and the mood of the person renting it to you. passport usually required as deposit, no insurance available.

Thnongsala has plenty of jeeps for rent, but be aware, not all operators are that reputable

I've met people who rented a jeep with insurance in Thong Sala. Perhaps they were misled, but it certainly looked legit to my husband.

hmm do you know where that was SBK? i rent jeeps pretty often and am always nervous that there is no insurance.

I'll ask my husband if he can remember who they rented from. I don't think I knew, just that they had taken insurance. The deal is you put a 3000 baht (I think) deposit down, which covers the insurance and if you have an accident, you lose the 3000 baht but don't have to pay for jeep repairs. If you don't have an accident, you get the 3000 baht back.

Kate motorcycles (next to the Chequered Flag new pier road, Thong Sala) and Theeps Travel (next to Yellow Cafe, Thon Sala) both rent suzuki jeeps which are in reasonable condition, and in my experience are fair with people,

Good Luck

Hello, is there anybody to give me an advice about hiring a car dependably in the island Koh Phangan? We are big family (3 adults, 2 children), so we need a bigger car, preferably jeep 4x4. Does any car-hire company have cars with full insurance there? I have read terrified stories about rentals, where they required a lot of money because of only small accidents.

Or is it better to hire a car on Koh Samui in an international rental and then travel to Koh Phangan by ferry?

Thank you very much
