    London mayor Sadiq Khan has released a statement on his Facebook page:

    The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that the explosion on a train at Parsons Green Station this morning is being treated as terrorism.

    Our city utterly condemns the hideous individuals who attempt to use terror to harm us and destroy our way of life.

    As London has proven again and again, we will never be intimidated or defeated by terrorism.

    I am in close contact with the Metropolitan Police, Transport for London, Government and other emergency services who are responding at the scene and leading the investigation. I will be attending the emergency COBRA meeting in Whitehall this afternoon with the Prime Minister.

    My sincere gratitude goes to all our courageous emergency responders and the TfL staff who were first on the scene.

    I urge all Londoners to remain calm and vigilant, and to check TfL’s website for travel advice.

    Certainly Islamic terrorists are the number one suspects.

    But the majority of British Muslims, and Muslims worldwide, abhor their actions and the terrorists have repeatedly condemned as unIslamic by Muslim political and religious leaders as well as ordinary Muslims on social media, in street demonstrations etc.

    Several hurt in 'terrorist' incident on London underground train

    LONDON (Reuters) - Several people were injured at a London underground station on Friday after witnesses reported a blast on a packed rush-hour commuter train which police were treating as a terrorism incident.

    Emergency services said they had been called to reports of a fire on a train at Parsons Green station in West London at 8.20 a.m. (0720 GMT)

    "It is too early to confirm the cause of the fire, which will be subject to the investigation that is now underway by the Met's Counter Terrorism Command," London police said in a statement.

    Commissioner Neil Basu, the senior national coordinator for counter-terrorism policing, had declared it a terrorist incident, the statement said.

    The Metro newspaper reported that passengers had suffered facial burns from a blast and others had been hurt in a subsequent stampede.

    An unverified picture circulating on social media showed a white bucket with a supermarket freezer bag on the floor of one train carriage. The bucket was in flames and there appeared to be wires coming out of the top.

    "I was on second carriage from the back. I just heard a kind of whoosh. I looked up and saw the whole carriage engulfed in flames making its way towards me," Ola Fayankinnu, who was on the train, told Reuters.

    "A lot of people were trampled on. There were phones, hats, bags all over the place and when I looked back I saw a bag with flames. People were crying, shocked, a few people had been injured, some people had been trampled."

    Outside the station, a woman was sitting on a pavement with a bandage around her leg, while armed police patrolled. A Reuters witness saw a woman being carried off on a stretcher with her legs covered in a foil blanket.

    "We are aware of an incident at #ParsonsGreen tube station. Officers are in attendance," London police said on Twitter.

    "We would advise people to avoid the area."

    Police said they were aware of reports on social media but said they would release facts regarding the incident once they could be sure of their accuracy.

    "KEEP CALM"

    "Everybody should keep calm and go about their lives in as normal a way as they possibly can," Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson told BBC TV.

    Television footage showed passengers being escorted off a carriage while a Reuters witness saw armed police scouring a stationary train.

    A Reuters witness could see a bomb disposal unit at the scene while the fire brigade said it had sent six engines and 50 firefighters. London Ambulance said it had sent "multiple resources" including its hazardous area response team to the scene.

    "Our initial priority is to assess the level and nature of injuries," it said.

    Transport for London said on Twitter there was no service on the western part of the District Line which runs through Parsons Green.

    Britain has suffered four attacks blamed on terrorists so far this year which killed 36 people. In 2005, 52 people were killed when four British Islamists carried out suicide bomb attacks on three London underground trains and a bus.

    The actions of whom?

    The 23,000 British Muslims suspected by the security services of being Islamic terrorists or supporters of Islamic terrorism: or the approx. 2.75 million British Muslims who are neither: many of whom not only publicly condemn the terrorists, but also give vital intelligence to the security services?

And as for the majority of Muslims well after working amongst them for God knows how many years i know what they think of us non believers.

    It seems you agree with Oscar Wilde when he said “Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but the highest form of intelligence!” Though I believe he was being sarcastic!

    Working amongst Muslims may have taught you what they think of you; but not necessarily what they think of others. Certainly the many Muslims I know, had as neighbours and have worked with for many years have as much respect for me and my rights as I have for them and theirs.

    Oh if we are going to quote Oscar.then this one covers Muslims

    Not enough though is it? Because it keeps happening again and again and again

     Covers all Muslims? Really?

    You talk a lot in your 'own person' about your experience with Muslims; so how does that quote relate to you?

     As someone who lived through The Troubles and once narrowly avoided being blown up by the IRA, the friends I was on my way to meet were not so lucky, I remember that those terrorist attacks kept on happening. But no one blamed the Irish people, they, rightly so, blamed the terrorists.

    As The troubles showed, terrorism cannot be defeated overnight, but defeated it can and will be.

    People like my son and daughter are worried about traveling on the Tube since 7/7.

    Well, I'm sorry about your son and daughter; were they actually on one of the trains or the bus at the time?

    Such trauma effects people in different ways, and the vast majority of Londoners, and those who commute into or visit London every day, have no such worries. In these times vigilance, yes; fear, no.

    What have the "Moderates" done since then to stop these extremist acts, NOWT

    Nowt, except:

    • providing intelligence to the security services;
    • expelling extremists from their mosques;
    • running initiatives to educate young Muslims away from extremism (I don't mean the much maligned Prevent);
    • demonstrating against extremism and terrorism on social media and in the streets;
    • condemning atrocities whenever they occur;
    • etc., etc..

    That's just British Muslims. Worldwide Muslims have done the same and more. For example, Muslim religious leaders have issued fatwas condemning the terrorists. Muslim soldiers have been fighting against, and dying, ISIS and others, and in the Middle East.

    So what more do you suggest they should do?

    So you want decent, law abiding people, many of whom were born in the UK and other Western countries, as were their parents and grandparents; many of whom provide essential services in the police, NHS and other emergency services, many of whom serve in their country's armed forces and have been decorated and died in that service, to be forced to leave?

    How would you go about that? Round them all up into special camps awaiting your final solution?
