PATTAYA: -- Life for residents living next to a big condo development just went from hell to something worse after a crane collapsed on the roof.

Locals in Soi Wat Bunkanchanaram have been unable to sleep properly for two years while the 24 story development makes life a stressful misery.

But when a crane collapsed on the roof - and the seven workers responsible scarpered - masonry and metal came raining down on their houses.

On Sunday residents led by 55 year old Chuchart Deenan filed complaints with Pattaya police against the builders.

Chuchart said life had been a misery for him and his neighbors never knowing what next was going to fall off the building and being unable to sleep properly. They were all suffering stress as well as damage to their property.

And to make matters worse things are now in limbo.

The Pattaya authorities have called a temporary end to construction while the collapsed crane situation is sorted out.

PATTAYA: -- Furious Pattaya residents who have complained about an allegedly noisy and dangerous condo development continue to suffer.

In more trouble they have slammed the development.

In a latest report from Tnews residents said that engineers from the company building the twin structures in Soi Wat Bunkanchanaram arrived unannounced to do repairs to damaged house roofs.

Residents are now worried that their properties may be further at risk from theft by unscrupulous repairmen. They feel they should have at least been telephoned that men were coming to do repairs.

They claimed that no communication was made.

On Sunday the residents led by Chuchart Denan had gone to Pattaya police to complain about falling masonry and disturbance over a two year period.

Things came to a head when a crane collapsed on the 24th floor due to what appears operator negligence, said Tnews.

Seven workers fled the scene creating more confusion and worry for the residents.

Engineers from Pattaya have today called for building to stop as the problem with the crane is sorted and residents' concerns are addressed.

Aha....

What does being a lawyer have to do with  facts?

My wife and I have owned our house in Thailand for over 12 years, and except for the noisy farangs across the street, have had no problems at all. And that's a fact.

2 y of no sleep......and now they complain already ??????

Where they sleeping,or what?

Its more like the absence of preventive safeguards.
They must have complained about it in the past, but the drastic nature of events in the present time will force some action. Luckily no loss of life despite a crane coming down.

Workers? This S. Sands project has been sitting dead for the last 3 years?

That was my first thought as well.  I thought construction was at a halt for quite some time.

Has the construction noise been 24/7 to disrupt sleep?
