Extension of 30-day tourist visa

Featured Replies

I'm planning a trip to Thailand in January and thinking of staying for five or six weeks. I have a UK passport and I've made a lot of trips to Thailand, but always less than 30 days. Is it still possible to get the 30-day stamp on arrival at the airport and then extend it during my stay in Chiang Mai for the extra weeks?

Or is it less hassle to get a 60-day tourist visa in the place I'm working (Jeddah)? Getting the 60-day visa at the Consulate in advance will involve multiple expensive trips.

I've been searching to find the answer but I'm still not sure what the best option is.

Thanks

I think you mean a 30 day visa exempt entry not a tourist visa. You may be asked to show ticket out of the country within 30 days to board your flight to here. You could get a low cost one way ticket to a nearby country to show them.

You can extend a 30 day visa exempt entry at an immigration office for 30 days for a fee of 1900 baht.

It is up to you if you prefer to make the day trip to Immigration and extend the 30 Days Visa Exemption stamp to 60 days for 1,900 baht.  or you can just get a Tourist Visa for 60 days for about 1,000 Baht and not have to worry about taking a day to go to Immigration to extend it, unless you decide you want to stay for 90 days.
