Prayut’s visit to US may happen soon

Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha should be able to visit the United States by early next month, Deputy Government Spokesperson Lt-General Werachon Sukondhapatipak said on Wednesday.

Prayut was invited to make the visit during a phone call with President Donald Trump in April.

The riming of the visit would have to work around the royal ceremonies scheduled for late next month, Werachon said.

The Foreign Ministry was working to confirm a schedule for the visit, which Thailand expects to include discussions on the economy, security and natural disasters, the deputy spokesperson said.

While the US might take some to settle the arrangements, Werachon stressed that the visit “will surely take place”.

America’s call for Asean countries to press North Korea on its nuclear weapons tests may also be on the agenda for any talks.

Trump will be arranging for Air Force One to drop into a secret airport and pick up PM Prayut and take him direct to Camp David for a round of golf. I hear tell Prayut is a hacker and plays off a handicap of 153. Should be some serious Thai cursing and swearing going on. Love to be there.

"The Foreign Ministry was working to confirm a schedule for the visit, which Thailand expects to include discussions on ....and natural disasters, the deputy spokesperson said."

I say, thats a bit near the bone, refering to the two of them as "natural disasters"?

Trump just lambasted countries that are not democratic. Maybe he will change his mind when he know more about coup leader Prayut.

But if they choose to buy arms from the USA such shortcomings are conveniently overlooked. Gulf states are the prime example; Saudi Arabia foremost.

natural disasters

oh dear, they will talk about migrants? Living illegally in the country? or do they mean climate change which will be denied by Trump?

Anyway 2 ego-manes in a small talk. When P will return he will speak about "make Thailand great again" probably.

Sounds exciting! On a serious note, I hope the PM realizes he can't trust that anything out of our president's mouth cannot be viewed as true or to become true

So are you saying Trumph is a liar and the other one just tells fairy stories = White lies

You forget that China and Russia have become the lead military equipment suppliers for Thailand. Neither of those two allows for public scrutiny or is concerned with human rights.

Say what you want about the USA, but it has one of the better records  when it comes to  selling  military supplies.  The US sale to Saudi Arabia met the requirements under the applicable laws, which are stricter than those of the EU. And I note that Canada was rather quick at selling lethal weapons to Saudi Arabia.  South Korea, Singapore, India and Brazil have done some rather evil sales over the  past decade, and yet they get a pass. Double standard anyone?
