A friend of mine from uni lost 50,000 baht in sports betting. Almost all his savings. He's 19 fyi.

And I'll give you 7-2 on that he'll keep on gambling. He's an idiot.

Did you lend him any money or help him out or is it 'friend' as in facebook 'friend'?

Only 40%,,,,, surprised it is not most of Issan.

Can we blame them  ? if you are very poor the chance that a jackpot may be around the corner

is pretty lucrative

It's not at all lucrative until you win. Otherwise it is a 'loss'

A uni student you say?..Says more about university standards than it does your friend I am afraid...or did he think he was smarter than the bookmaker?

As my old dad say... "you will never find a poor bookmaker"

Wise words indeed.

And therein tells the tale of gambling addicts. They can't stop when they are winning and they can't stop when they are losing........until they run out of money of course then start again when funds allow.

With the greatest respect to you, you sound like a good friend but sadly he will never listen to you and only stop if and when he wants to.

Nothing like a seminar to fix the problem. Followed up by some forums, committees and sub-committees, workshops and weekend conferences at a resorts.

Well, if gambling is supposed to be bad, where are their role models?

Gambling bad! Corruption okay if I get my share one day.

That's a very good point. Who are the real role models for them to aspire to when they see so much corruption in every day life. I genuinely believe things will get worse in the future.
