MoL joins hands with 15 agencies to promote Thailand as Kitchen of the World

BANGKOK, 26 September 2017 (NNT) – The Ministry of Labor's Permanent Secretary has cooperated with 15 agencies to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on promoting Thailand as Kitchen of the World.

Labor Ministry Permanent Secretary Puntharik Samiti has signed a MOU on such policy at the Emerald Hotel in Bangkok. The MoU is signed between the Ministry of Labor (MoL) and 15 agencies including the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kasetsart University Research and Product Development Institute, Suan Dusit University, Dusit Thani College, Khrua Wandee Culinary School, Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon, MSC Culinary School, Minor International Public Company Limited, Blue Elephant Restaurant, and S&P Syndicate Public Company Limited.

This cooperation has stemmed from the government's policy to promote Thailand as Kitchen of the World. The government has approved the draft strategy of Thailand as Kitchen of the World strategy 2013 – 2021 since the country is recognized as a fertile source of food and Thai food is well-known globally..

Each agency will provide support under the cooperation framework overseen by the MoL. The Department of Skill Development has organized training for Thai chefs and provides a standard skill test to workers both in Thailand and abroad.

Will this include "graphic corn dogs and waffles"?

Educating the general population on personal hygiene (washing hands with soap after using lavatory and before/during food preparation) would be a good start

The hub of food poisoning!

Thailand makes a very narrow selection of food generally. Not exactly representative of a world kitchen. Grocery store of the world might be a better fit.

Do they mean "kitchen sink" of the world?

Yes, but it's the garbage behind the kitchen and in the drains that's worrying .

Why not making kitchen of the universe?

True, Chinatown and old Bangkok has the widest variety of food.  Otherwise, it is same same everywhere else.
