Man gets citizen ID card after adoption 33 years ago

A man who was adopted by foster parents 33 years ago has received his first citizen identification card after he found his biological mother in Nakhon Ratchasima.
 

Chusak Chunkao, chief of Phimai district in Nakhon Ratchasima, issued an identification card for Danai Paenkrathok, 33, on Thursday.

 

Danai also changed his name to Prakasit and had his ID card issued in the new name.

 

Danai had earlier made headlines when he appealed for help to locate his biological mother in Nakhon Ratchasima, because he wanted to obtain an ID card so that he could apply for a job and earn money to take care of his ailing, elderly foster parents.

 

He said he knew only that his mother had given him to his foster parents in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Pak Chong district.

After he appealed for help, Facebook users helped locate his mother, Chaluya Plodkhunthond, 56, who is now a nun at a temple in Sara Buri’s Wang Muang district.

 

The Phimai district chief later organised a DNA test for Danai and his mother that confirmed that he was her son, paving the way for the issuance of the ID card.

 

The district chief first added Danai’s name into his foster parents’ household registration records in Phimai and issued him the ID card.

 

Danai said he was very happy that he would be able to apply for a job like other Thai people so that he could take care of foster parents.

There are MANY non Thai people that take care of their Thai family and should be recognized for what they do, so they dont have to worry about missing a immigration appointment, can buy a home etc...

 

Lets hope that foreigners get more rights than a Soi Dog someday :)
