I never really got into Leonard Cohen or paid too much attention to his lyrics, but it seems he is pushing negativity and doom and gloom in some of his songs. He really believes, according to an interview in this video, that the future will be so bleak that it will make Stalin look like Disneyland, as described in his song "The Future". He is also predicting they will kill fetuses? I'm not really on board with this kind of doom and gloom fear-mongering about the future. It's rather dark music that I would prefer to avoid. Maybe he considers himself some kind of prophet that can foretell the future, but I don't. I think he's delusional. Give me back the Berlin wall Give me Stalin and St. Paul I've seen the future, brother It is murder Destroy another fetus now We don't like children anyhow I've seen the future, baby It is murder
